Title: New Feature: Non-exploding Barrels

Please create non-exploding barrels to replace some of the exploding ones. The non-exploding barrels would be colored red, and would be destructible by normal ranged or melee attack, but don't hurt the player and don't destroy everything in their vicinity.

Hmm, wonder what the tactical use of them would be... Maybe they could sometimes hold items? (Diablo-like, I know :-P)

P.S. I knew the Kerrigan avatar would have some use ^^

Can you imagine people on Phobos space base hiding plasma rifle or supercharge in red barrel? Maybe monsters and marine that are next to it can fire through it, but monsters and marine that are more than 1 square away, cannot ,so they will hit the barrel? It will be like defensive point, behind which you can hide from monsters(especially from sergeants in melee mode on first levels).

Though I must admit that bottling a hell baron with exploding barrels and then blowing them all up has its charms too, heh heh :-D

Those would need the barrel to have high damage resistance, and make the block sight...

Damn, the vision code needs an update :/

Maybe you could add some sort of barrel formation combos and turn DoomRL into DoomTetris ;D

Yeah, Doomtris :-D

Though I'd still stick to the idea of just normal non-exploding barrels with normal characteristics like their exploding counterparts. I'm not entirely convinced you should be able to "shoot from behind them".
