Title: Swap reload and altreload for dualgunner.
Post by: HexaDoken on March 09, 2012, 07:18
Welp, subj. If you wield two pistols, and you know the dualgunner trait, normal reload suddenly becomes dualreload, and alternate reload suddenly becomes single reload. Because, you know, dualreload is used much more often than single reload(especially if you use pistols with high clip size/low reload time), and I don't really like to switch my habits from R to Shift+R. Altho, what I fear more, is continiously clicking Shift+R to reload when I will go back to non-pistol builds.
Or, if you try R while one pistol is fully loaded, and while prepared isn't, you reload the prepared.

EDIT: Oh god, even worse. I started to pressing Shift+F instead of F because of that goddamn reload. Thats not good at all.

This sounds good to me. I'm a little bothered with shift+R-ing all the time, but switching reload with alt-reload when dual wielding would probably be confusing for new players.

Swap reload and altreload for dualgunner.
This would probably anger hundreds of players who are already used to the current bindings. However:

Or, if you try 'r' while one pistol is fully loaded, and while prepared isn't, you reload the prepared.
I could see this working. To be honest, I'd like to try to move away from the dualreload working as an alt reload, since it interferes with other pistols' alt reload (like Grammaton's mode switch or Trigun's...big bang attack). The proposed idea seems like a really good alternative: most experienced players realize that dual pistols are best reloaded with 'r' followed by 'R', so that you're allowed time to react between reloads, and this would replace it quite nicely. (Only issue I see is people who tend to spam buttons.)

"used to it", because there is no other alternative? Riiight...

Make it configurable, and we will see the hundreds of those ;] .

This wouldn't be a bad idea - simply because I have wasted so much time accidentally normal reloading as opposed to dual reloading...

Also, for those who spam buttons that much...slow down? ;P

An amusing thought: single reloading doesn't use as much time as dualreloading. :p

I can get behind a second press of 'r' reloading the prepared pistol, I guess, but it's like Game Hunter said: I would hate so hard on dualreloading being switched with single reload. Dualreloading is not something you want to just do all the time, and I always considered unique pistols' alternate reloads disallowing dualreloads to be a sort of balance thing. Which is somewhat out the window now that dualgunners take 0s to switch to their prepared pistol.

I like this idea too.

Ooh!  I didn't realize that feature had been implemented!  I have to play an Angel of Marksmanship game next!  :)

BTW, a related thing: how about making dualgun alternate fire (aimed shot) only shoot one of the guns? Aiming carefully while blasting two guns at once sounds a bit off to me, and it can even be useful to shoot only one gun e.g. point-blank when one of your guns is the anti-freak jackal.
