I am not sure if that's the correct place to request that, but I'll give it a try.
I just got that idea while sitting in the IRC. What about making DoomRL real-time, and allow people to play using the internet?
Unfortunately, I cannot attempt to do that, because I have no idea about programming languages, such as Lua.
On the graphics side, I see no barriers, the DoomRL tiles made by Derek Yu are sufficient for that, the only problem is the programming.
What do you think about that? Is that a good or a bad idea? Of course, I am NOT forcing anyone to do that, I just made a suggestion.
That would even be a nice experiment to do. :D

And how about making the game in first person? Oh... wait... it has been done before. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqneH337TFU).
I gotta finish that mod, even if it's too late, due to the graphical version. Then we could play DoomRL deathmatch.

This has been suggested soooo many times, lol.

Didn't know.

That can be... interesting. After all, real time roguelikes exist. Or, at least, roguelike-likes.
Doubt Kornel will bother with it, but hell, someone might do that.
-
IMHO, it will break the roguelike concept.
If you want to play a real-time Doom, just play original Doom FPS.
-
I don't think it will. Diablo is counted as a rogue like by many, many, many players(providing that they know what it is in the first place!), and, guess what, it is realtime.
But the turn-based action should definitely stay. Realtime could be an addon or something...
...or, perhaps, that mysterious Doom RL 2 being spoken about will be realtime?
Dunno.

The Diablo games are not roguelikes.
They are 'like rogue' in that they involve crawling dungeons and killing things for loot, but roguelikes and real-time dungeon crawlers are wildly different styles of game.
It's the difference between turn-based and real-time strategy.
