Healing items don't work, but you gain a few hp whenever you kill an enemy.
If you really want to be nasty (and knowing you, you probably do) you could tweak it so you lose hp slowly as you walk around!

That's pretty awesome. Should get more health for a melee kill (or only get health for a melee kill?). :D

Dunno... Vampires don't seem "angelic" at all to me. Maybe change the name to Angel of Blood?
Anyway, I've always understood the philosophy of "Angel" games as playing the game with imposed limitation (hence the challenge), and only giving bonuses for more difficult challenges such as AoB and AoMs. The angel of vampirism diverges from the concept too far.

You what would be an annoying but kind of fun challenge?
Angel of Teleportitis! Every X turns you teleport to a random spot on the map. Could work to your advantage... but probably not! The ultimate luck game. :)

Angel of Blood seems very interesting to me. Especially on Nightmare!, where you could have an unlimited source of healing vials ;)
Anybody played Legacy of Kain series? Blood streams coming from victims would be great to implement in DoomRL :P

Variation to your concept : You can go on blood and "drink" it to heal you a very little bit. You can also go on corpse and drink all the blood they have over them, healing you more depending of the actual corpse.
But that makes you more like a vampire, seems odd to me :/.. and could get annoying.

But it would be just a challenge. Moreover, a very specific one. Drinking could be performed by 'g', just like with picking things up.
Blood streams would be fun (and quite effective), but your concept seems more real to implement.
And what do others think of it all?

Um, well, I kinda don't like it too much (*mutters to self: Why is everybody so obsessed with vampires?*). Can you invent a challenge where our marine would still be a marine, and not some kind of mutant / vampire?

Doom(RL) is very bloody game and connotation with blood thirst is nearly-instant. You'll say, that it shouldn't be taken literally. But why? There's chainsaw which isn't quite serious weapon. There's also a spear which our marine would definitely don't know how to effectively use. I think that making an Angel of Blood challange would be another step in that direction - let's make him lust for blood all the time. He doesn't have to be a mystic vampire or a mutant, it's just for fun of all magic red liquid lovers (that means all of us, actually).

And no, I'm generally un-obsessed with Vampires - LoK series is only exception :P

In the Wiki I suggested something similar called Angel of Disease.

"Angel of Disease - player starts supercharged, but loses life down to 10%-20% (5-10 HP if Ironman=0). Gains small amounts of health when kills (up to 200%? 150%?), making for a sadistic, morbid angel ;) I'm not sure if he should gain normal health from globes and medkits. Also, it might make Nightmare a little easier, but on the other hand, only if you're ALWAYS killing, avoiding no-one and not holding back."
Making him unable to heal but gain health from kills is too-much of a directly easier version of AoMasochism.
I don't know if my idea's much better, but in any event I suggest at least partial health from kits'n'shit, and more importantly, life-loss to a critical point at all other times (making at least part of it directly more difficult than AoM).

How about this challenge game?
Angel of Mediocrity / Unremarkableness / whatever (name needs to be tweaked)
No special levels are generated at all. Ranking - Medium.

Rather "Ironman" -> no special levels, no traits (HARD)

Angel of Discipline then, perhaps? I'm out of ideas for the moment :-/
