Dodgemaster doesn't do what it says. When I'm one on one with imps/knights/baron/cacos/shambler and possibly formers, moving out of the line of fire (ie in any direction except directly towards or directly away from the enemy, or as perpendicularly as possible when relative positions may result in multiple possible direct lines) does not guarantee a miss on the enemy's part as suggested by the skill description. In fact, I got hit quite a lot - I didn't count, but I guess 1 in 4 at least.
Is this a DM bug, or am I that bad?
And yet another attempt at AoSh Silver goes down the drain, just while I was having fun toying around with plasmatic shrapnel. Bit of a pain, but I guess I'll just have to aim for another Silver for my promotion.

That is strange. DM works for me, otherwise I couldn't dance around the cyberdemon ~15 minutes real time on AoHu, where a single hit would kill me.
-
Well, I won't say you're "bad," but I've never had any problems with DM. It's always worked consistently for me. Perhaps you were standing too close to a wall and the explosion radius injured you?
-
Nah, they were direct hits. I don't understand :S
-
Oh I do suck btw: tried AoMC instead, fairly breezed through the first 23 levels then got killed in one shot by Spidey. Thought I'd see how it went and fall back on the nuke if need be :(
I'm filling up on Bronze, but the Silver I require remains elusive. I'll give either AoMC or AoSh another try (tomorrow), see if I have the same problems again with DM.

Dodgemaster works reliably in most encounters but I'm sure I've been hit a few times I shouldn't have been.
-
Same things sometimes... You are not alone...
-
I've noticed on times a failure to dodge Knight or Baron shots. It's pretty rare, but it happens.
-
Hypothetically, if your movement speed is slow enough, maybe an enemy could get two actions after your movement? And maybe you wouldn't automatically dodge an attack made on the second action? I dunno.
-
Didn't check, but I was doing a Scout and had to have had HR 2. I was wearing and unmodded blue I believe. Don't think that oughta have been the problem either.
-
Hmm, and testing contradicts my theory anyways. Auto-dodging seems to apply to two consecutive hell knight attacks.
-
I may have found the problem: does DM apply to the first turn after the move that triggers it only, or does it apply to the first projectile fired at the player after he moves (regardless of how many turns/actions come in between)?
If the first assumption is true, then I might just need to retest the scenario. Could be I got hit in the turn that I fired my weapon, right after a move.
-
It only applies if your last action was a movement, I believe.

Nope.DM applies only to first projectile per monster.
All attacks after your sidestep have the chance to be fired in a wrong direction, but DM works only once per monster.
You can recheck it on Arachnotrons.
Though it can be different situations, but i doubt it.
@LuckyDee: yes, dodging and DM works only if your last action was sidestepping

I know it only applies to the first shot in a volley, but it appears that two completely separate attacks will both be dodged. I can't be sure that I'm not just getting lucky, but in my testing I always dodged the second attack.
Edit: after a lot more testing using an enemy with a lower dodge chance, I finally got hit by a second attack, so you're right. You'll pretty much have to be trying for this to ever come up, though, so it's not the source of the problems people are mentioning.
