Title: Now singing.... (Karaoke Wedding Night)

You being the great the people I've met here so far, I'm very much curious as to your input on the following: yesterday evening I asked my girlfriend to marry me and to my great pleasure, she said yes (we've been together for seven years and have two kids, plus she's been hinting at it on more then one occassion, so I thought my chances were good anyway). We'd already been talking and joking about our wedding party before, and one of the things we came up with and discussed again yesterday, was to have a karaoke party: it should be hilarious to watch friends and family get progressively more drunk and make progressively bigger asses out of themselves. And I just know a lot of them will :)

So, my good people, I ask of thee: hit me with songs (pref with a link to Youtube) I should add to the playlist. No holds barred, though it should put a smirk on your face when you imagine your grandfather/sister/best friend singing it.

Congratulations!

I was about to suggest something by Beastie Boys, then I realized MCA died yesterday and got sad. Then I realized that I shouldn't drag this topic into a thread about marriage, so I thought I won't post this at all.

Edit: Then I thought "What the hell" and posted it anyway.

I'll try to think of some god suggestions later. I'm busy painting our living room right now.

Yeah I read it this morning, and what a fucked up way to go, too. These things do happen, unfortunately. I wouldn't know what BB song to do, though; maybe "Girls" would be top choice.

As for the karaoke party, it's karaoke -- you *NEED* to add in something japanese, and once people get enough drunk, dare them to sing it! (just make sure the lyrics are romaji (our alphabet)). Hilarity ensues.

Good tip as well; especially if you record what's actually being sung and have that translated back to English again. You'll probably get something like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_crYfBrnmY).

What would be really great: have the karaoke system running 2 random lists, 1 with songs and 1 with singers. Show a 'coming up next' which draws from both at the bottom of the screen whenever a song is playing. If there's one thing even more fun than watching friends croon to the songs they know, it's watching them fail at the songs they don't :)

First off, congrats on doing it!  I'd wish you happiness, but since you are together for so long... Well, just keep it up as it is! ;)

On karaoke songs - as Kornel said, something in japanese, but in the, say, late game...
I'd suggest this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nba3Tr_GLZU). Especially if you know grandparents will come as well! High-pitched notes and evergrowing tempo makes it hard to sing while sober...

I'll post a link later on as well as some other songs.
