Game consumes 30% CPU (one core of 3), after disabling the midi music load is reduced to ~ 11% (too much for idle), after calling help it rises to 30%.

Come to think about it, I have similar issue on Win Vista SP2.
Console version should not take the amount of CPU it takes now, imo.
Moreover, the game with pretty simple graphics (tiles) should not take it as well.
