Title: Unlimited berserk
Post by: Klear on June 19, 2012, 10:59
I've used Azrael's scythe quite a few times in a recent game and got zerked from stepping in lava. That gave me an idea:

Step 1: Get Berserker
Step 2: Find AS or Trigun
Step 3: Use either until you have 35 max HP (5x for marines, 3x for others)
Step 4: Find/make boots that protect you from lava completely
Step 5: ???
Step 6: Profit! Unlimited zerk for free!

Would this work? And is it worth it?

I suppose it would not.

Full protection from Lava means that you don't get damage from it, amirite? And what induces berserk is having dealt damage...

A better tactic would be slaughtering Lost Souls that a pain elemental spawns, preferably with a butchers cleaver, even more preferably on a Vampyre build. Might not get experience, but will get Berserker ticks.

I thought the damage that's needed to trigger zerk is calculated before resistances, or is that true only for normal armour damage reduction? Maybe boots that make you immune to lava bypass this altogether, not sure.

BTW, I've found Gothic boots on that run, so I could at least get zerk for 1 hp, though I didn't really use that.

Plasteel boots reduce damage to 1 too in berserk and since you receice damage after berserk is activated means that slooow gothic boots are not needed.

My theory would be that damage for Zerk is calculated before resistances, but if you take no damage (due to 100% resistance) then instead of damage you for 0, it won't bother running a "damage" calculation.
