Title: Randomized music?
Post by: tdraconis on January 06, 2007, 18:49
First off, I've got to say that DooMRL is simply the most fun rogue-like I've ever played.:)
That said, I wonder if a small feature might not be possible to add (or already here, but hidden beyond my pathetic skill.)... There's several very high-quality versions of the DooM soundtracks available these days, and so I wonder if it is possible/would be possible to make it so that multiple tracks could be assigned to one music slot? Something to the effect of "MUSIC4 = "mp3/e1m1A.mp3";"mp3/e1m1B.mp3";etc"?
I apologize if this is already possible, but if it's not, I think it'd be a great thing to add.

To quote Doomrl.ini

Quote
// You can get far more higher quality Doom MP3 tracks from
// http://www.sirgalahad.org/paul/doom/
// To use them in DoomRL just copy all the Doom I tracks into
// a new subfolder named "mp3" and uncomment the MUSIC2 to MUSIC21
// from below, then comment the corresponding MIDI tracks.

It's pretty easy to do and as far as I can tell, music is set to random barring special levels such as level 1.

Good thinking of you though.

Kornel, can you confirm this?

This just in:

http://www.sirgalahad.org/paul/doom appears to be officially dead. Coralize is doing nothing for me.

That's why I urge you to update DoomRL.ini to set the link to

http://web.archive.org/web/20051110085453/www.sirgalahad.org/paul/doom/

Or even better, host your own.

Edit the second: I can also put a torrent up if you're interested.
