Title: [0997G WinXP] Lag due to sound/music hiccups
Post by: LuckyDee on March 23, 2013, 06:03
At totally random points on totally random levels, the sound/music engine runs amok (affects both). Everything starts stuttering, as if all sounds are played twice instead of once, the latter coming out with a slight delay, almost sounding like an echo. Not running anything parallel to DRL, except the usual background noise. Basic sound settings.

Sometimes it's fixed when loading a new level, sometimes it isn't. Any clues? Thx.

WinXP SP3, Intel Pentium 4, Realtek HD Audio. Anything else?

Yeah it's old, but it hardly ever gives me any trouble. Suffice to say I obviously don't play the latest releases.

Anyone, please?

I've had to quit my current game 4 times now, and I'm only on the Containment Area....

Trouble with music on some pcs, has been reported before I think.

A probably good walkaround you can do is try to install the custom music files from Simon.
(go for ogg or flac if you prefer instead of mp3)

You can find them by following instructions in the all mega album stickied thread or whatever it's called. 1st post.

Had to do a fresh installation of my computer a week back, problem seems to have solved itself. Must have been some conflicting piece of software after all.

If it returns, I'll have Radagast's suggestion as a backup plan.
