My first Ao100 win. Played the entire game with shotguns and melee. Found nothing better than a combat knife, but still managed to steamroll everything.
The high fire resistance combined with berserk made the game very easy, fire damage dealing arch-vile where the most common enemy (lol).
Found trigun, nuclear weapons and a few nukes, but never had to use them.

47 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:
39 of those were killed.
1 didn't read the thermonuclear bomb manual.
And 2 couldn't handle the stress and committed a stupid suicide.
5 souls destroyed the Mastermind...
5 killed the bitch and survived.

Never thought of this, but for A100 a masterless build actually makes a lot of sense...

That's *always* the way to go if you don't want the generic ammochain build.
In a normal game where you might hit level 14, a Master trait is ok.
A master trait will always limit one of the dimensions of a build (speed, power, defense, etc). But in Ao100, with 20+ clevels, you can easily be max everything!
-
Only successful A100 run I did so far was on MSs, which was a blast (at least on HNTR). But I agree that with 100 levels of random stuff (including all kinds of brilliant items), the benefits of masterless can be huge.
-
Nice one.
It's not exactly masterless, he did get Blademaster after all.
It's more like a build that focuses simultaneously on melee (mostly) and less on some weaponry. Not bad since the high level permits it.
Tbh I haven't tried Ao100 yet. I'm afraid it might take me more than 20 hours given that an average HMP/UV now takes me something like 6-8 hours. (I'm slow I know) I don't have that much time to spare atm imo, it seems like an endless game that way which I can't say I'm fond of.
However if I do at some point try it, I think it would be very beneficial to play a scavenger build since finding loads of crap in so many levels is the only certain thing, and it is always healthy to get extra modpacks and crafts, from destroying useless items. It seems like an easy way to finish all missing assemblies and also get the badges/medals for them.

Ick, you're right. Missed it. Did spark a good idea though, now have a masterless Scout A100 run going myself :)

Long live the 'save' function...
I tried Scavenger too, but I got killed fairly quickly - probably not due to the build, but still. However, looking at what MSc blocks (TH/DG/Ber), I think it'd be a pretty good choice for allowing a broad range of weapons to work with.

Yup - In my opinion, the scout class speed boost offers the best base benefit when you don't consider master traits. Good call!
-
It was actually the INT-INT start - my personal favorite - that made the choice for me. Good early advantage for damage control, then onto generic speed boosts (FIN/REL/HR). By then I should have a couple of half decent weapons (currently a tactical shotgun + gatling), and can decide on where to advance the offence.
-
If going for YAAM (and who doesn't?), the non-MAc Ao100 build needs SoB > 3 too because each shot needs to count. You can't rely on ammo always being around. Keep a shotgun, rapid, and RL on you too.
-
Duly noted. SOB was high on the list anyway.
-
Aaaaaaaaand died stepping into a pool of lava, concentrating on where the little purple crosses were. And just when I was getting up to steam, too...

^ This. Ao100 really makes the most of that trait.

While that may be true, does the trait make the most of A100? I'm (still) doing a masterless A100 run at the moment, and with WK2 I've already left dozens of mods just lying around because I couldn't find any possible use for them.
I think Scavenger is pretty useless outside of A100, but whether it's that benificial... Although, come to think of it: since I didn't do TH/DG/BER, I could have still taken it if I hadn't been playing a Scout. At this point in the game (+/- dlev 85), IRO sounds a lot more attractive though.

You should just go with a juggling Vampyre. You can rip anything to shreads and still have a ranged weapon prepared to deal with anything.

That conjures up a pretty strange mental picture...

Alucard juggling his Anti-Freak Jackal and Casul while ripping things to shreds.
Sounds legit.

Hehe.
Glad to see there are also other anime fans in here, especially in the dev team. (well berserk/hellsing fans at least)
