Title: Respawning monsters on HNTR (M)
Post by: Moonshine Fox on September 08, 2013, 16:17
So I was, just for fun, trying out a dual challenge, going for AoMC and AoD. I noticed that even on Phobos entry, the formers were respawning. Are they supposed to do that? I was on Hey, Not to rough, there were obviously no Arch-Viles nearby, but mobs sprang out of the ground regardless.

Is there some undocumented thing to Angel of Darkness that makes mobs respawn?

AoD respawns mobs yes, regardless of difficulty.

AoMC + AoD sounds like a terrible idea fun.

Of course, I'm sure it's lots of fun (http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/Fun)!

Losing IS fun. I'm glad there are people here who understand that, unlike the simpleminded simpletons in my day-to-day life whom I've tried to persuade into playing DoomRL. They lose one or two games on ITYTD and ragequit forever.

Then again people have tried to get me to play Dwarf Fortress and I'm always like "uhhh no, too much stuff to learn"

Yeah, I also learned the hard way not to try persuading people into roguelikes in general. The basic "die and learn" rule is usually too much for them :(.
Luckily, there are friends of mine who are used to play arcade games at one credit only. They, as well as myself, find similarities, both in the approach, and in the achievement sense after winning a game on single life only. Those are generally more susceptible to our genre.
Ah well, spreading the faith is difficult at times :).

I'm an avid Dwarf Fortress player, so yes, losing IS fun. I might also add that this run ended hilariously. AoD+AoMC is VERY difficult, especially when everyone shoots you for max damage and perfect accuracy from outside your vision. Oh well :D
