What's that? A GCB? on Deimos? With my reputation?
Had to post this one, someone let me know if I'm posting too many of these or something... I just like it.
After many dead Technicians, the first Marine Ridonk to tackle this challenge takes it dowmtown for a romp.. (Or something) Obviously the GCB was nice, I even unequipped my other pistol when fighting the Mastermind to be sure to get the Grammaton Cleric Cross, I wasn't sure if I damaged her/him/it(?) with the other pistol too it might invalidate it.
Only started this run to get Arena Gold really, as I was having trouble with the last wave of barons when playing as a technician... the next few levels went by in a flurry of pistol fire as I got dualgunner and upped the damage. Before I knew it I'd reached the Armoury and went in guns blazing, wasn't too bad and I got a tasty nano pack. I decided not to do any of the other special levels as I realised I might actually be able to finish the run at this point, and something usually happens to me that stops me getting 100% kills in them. (Like not having a rocket launcher for the wall, or an envirosuit for the lava one... something dumb anyway that I wanted to avoid.)

I forgot to mention - using just 10mm ammo is odd because in the early game, I was swimming in it, inventory full and always having to wonder how much to leave behind to give space to armour and other goodies. By the time you're in Hell, the opposite is true and there are rockets and cells everywhere but hardly any 10mm. For about 2-3 levels I was consistently on the verge of running out of ammo and it was very... exciting. I did have more than one desperate occasion of rounding a corner to be greeted by a chaingun guy or two and breathing a sigh of relief! :)
By about Hell 5 or 6 the ammo problem had disappeared thanks to a couple of lifesaving ammo boxes. But I was beginning to consider picking up a knife or something... it was getting ugly!

Yep, it does, but you need high damage rolls to overcome the wall tile's 10 armor and 10-15 HP. I recall burning ~150-200 cells to get through the whole eight tiles without Sharpshooter, but only ~40 cells with it (at SoG3 both times).
Btw. Did I already give congrats? UV AoMr 100% is quite an achievement. Too bad you didn't use the nuke (no invulnerability?) to get a shot at a full win and the resulting Veteran Platinum.

I actually was invulnerable for the whole fight with Spidey, but I took the easy way out and just went for the Marksman badge. If I hadn't got Veteran Platinum in the other run I would maybe have gone for it... Would have been dicey though :)

Congrats on your Marksman Platinum! :D And you did it with a Bullet Dance build too! Interesting... I've always considered that the weakest of the pistol masters. Of course, it's always nice to get the GCB on a marksman run and I see you made good use of it. :)

As far as I know, as long as the GCB is in your primary slot, you can have whatever you want in your secondary slot and still get the Grammaton Cleric Cross. As for the Mastermind's gender, DoomRL seems to consider her to be female. I don't know if that's actual Doom canon, but this game refers to her as a "her" and that's good enough for me. :)

That's probably wise. Going up against JC with a pistol is iffy; if he gets surrounded by summons, you might not be able to get a clear shot. Besides, if you had done that, you wouldn't have gotten the Grammaton Cleric Cross! :)

Ta - much fun was had. I don't think I'd actually used Bullet Dance before and I have to say (despite this run) I'm not a huge fan. It's too ammo hungry in the later levels and caused me a lot of worry :)
Having said that I think getting Dualgunner and Son of a Bitch instead of afew levels of Eagle Eye made the early game a lot easier for me. Especially the Arena where you usually aren't fighting at long range, just pew pewing around those small pillars. I prefer a Sharpshooter Technician, but find it very hard to stay alive long enough to get the master trait.
