I had tons of fun with this one. I never realized just how stupidly OP it is to just stack SoG early on and pick people apart before they get a chance to react. With some careful movement you can really really make this a cakewalk. I was holding on to that pistol in my inventory forever, hoping for a second Power Mod, but it never came. So I was stuck with the Storm Bolter for most of the run.

I had some really bad luck with the Cyberdemon, lost my Fireproof Red Armor, and came out of the fight with only 8% HP and no decent armor, aside from my Tactical Armor. Managed to find a berserker pack and a second red armor, but foolishly pulled a lever on level 19. It spawned a Vile, a Revenant and two something elses I don't even remember. They tore me to shreds in an instant, before I even had time to close the door. Welp.

Not a bad run... Cyberdemon's a bastard with pistols, especially without a DM build like Gun Kata.

I generally don't screw with levers later in the game, unless I've got an Int build, either - I've had enough floors erupt into lava to teach me otherwise, lol. Summons are also a pain, since as I recall they don't give XP, and as you've demonstrated, they can be quite dangerous, especially deeper in.

Better luck on the next one ;)

I still remember the days, back in version 0.9.9.1, when monster-summoning levers actually gave you experience.  Ever since they stopped, there's just no reason to pull them any more.  They never offer any benefit that's worth the risk of flooding the room with lava or surrounding yourself with dangerous enemies.

I do pull levers sometimes if I'm already pretty well boned, because they might just be a meditech booth or a creature harm, but usually if I screw with them on an otherwise successful run, they screw me right back. Lava floors are very bad.

As far as the Gambler's Shield, you probably want to do a special Intuition Scout run just for the Medal award(I actually haven't yet, I believe it's my only unearned non-secret medal), and then ignore it for the rest of time =P

If I have intuition I generally pull beneficial levers only. Otherwise I tend to try and stay away from them, but it's just so tempting!

Well, with Int2 you can gauge which harmful levers are acceptable to pull, so you can increase your count that way. Doing it blind is never as safe as having some information about what will happen.
