Before him 6 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:
6 of those were killed.

I pull out the BFG, fire... and miss. Don't you hate when that happens?
-
Huh? I thought BFG always hits. It always did in my games with 0.985, as far as I can remember. Maybe that has changed now?
-
Well, I had to step in the lava to start getting away, three Arachnotrons swarm me, of course, they were swarming me before. Now imagine this, you have just a few more turns to live if you don't pull off something amazing.
Enter the BFG. Pull it out, aim, and fire at the closest Arachnotron... and watch the plasma ball sail away to the other side of the level.
Yeah. It's kinda like that.
-
I've always lived in an impression that the ball always explodes on the exact tile you aim it on.
-
Well, bullets don't stop at the exact tile you point at, neither do rockets. And they don't act like that in the regular Doom, either, they just flew until they hit something.
-
But I've never missed with BFG.
-
I've missed with BFG, even with Eagle Eye level 2 and aggressive mode. It travelled past everything and hit a far wall, not good, so it does miss sometimes.
-
One question: If you have EE on 2, why on earth would you want to be on Aggressive?
-
Extra damage, though I have to say that I'm not sure it's enough to justify aggressive as opposed to cautious if the monster's in your LOS. Coward mode gives you a damage penalty, as well, which is why, yes, you may live longer, but it will take longer to kill the bastards and thus give them more chances to kill you. Of course, if the monster ISN'T in your LOS, which is the whole point of Int 3, there's no reason you shouldn't go for extra damage if it means you won't get hit while doing so anyway.
-
If you like being on Aggressive, you should add some points on Finesse to not give enemies enough time to shoot you.
-
I though BFGs have a maximum range, and as has already been said, couldn't miss. What am I missing? Heh, literally :)
