During special levels, the game occasionally crashes. I am using DooMRL 0994, Windows XP.
The first time it happened was on Halls of Carnage. It just now happened twice on The Wall.

Well, essentially. I got an invul. boost, went down, and used the Angel Arm alt. reload. I had cleaned out everything up until that point, but I only got the LS. Maybe an actual nuke does something different, but I heard that you can only use melee to get the AS. That's why I wondered about using the Arena Master's Staff or shockwave packs. Just a few minutes ago, I gave myself a wristache getting it down to ~60% HP and then goofed up by walking through the lava.

Also if I were better at math I'd try and figure out if a person could take out the Angel by somehow looping and running around those columns in the second part of the cathedral instead of going all the way outside.

Super neat.
I assume that playing on "normal" (not AoC, Hurt Me Plenty) won't significantly affect this aside from increasing the time it'll take to kill him?
Also, that guy has a nice voice.
Edit: I know. I'd love to skip this but if I don't clear every special level and 100% kill everything on every floor, my victory will be hollow and empty.

The build:
Scout class, with estimated player level on reaching Cathedral of "9". Chosen because they can get "Cateye".
Traits taken:
Definitely "Intuition" levels 1-2, ideally "Finesse" 1-2 and "Whizkid", and three open slots which I usually spend on either "Ironman" or "Dodgemaster". Top-level trait goal is "Cateye", so I can't select traits that prevent that, e.g. "Brute".
My question is, given this build, do I have any hope of being able to beat the Angel without resorting to a tactic (say, invulnerability plus nuke) that won't net me the?
If so, how do I do that? I usually go in with eight large medkits and always the Arena Master's staff and chainsaw (I don't skip any special levels). The first page of my scores screen are all dead to the Angel, so if it requires a specific set of equipment (demon-based items, special armor, etc.), I'm willing to play through, confront him, fight, die, and restart until I get them.
Do I manufacture a bunch of piercing combat knives and just throw them at him? Is it kosher to use the Staff and skull items at all, just on the Lost Souls and Pinkies, or even on the Angel himself?
Please advise, this is driving me buggy.
