Only had 2 pretty awful runs so far, but this is quite a fun way to play rouge-likes if you ask me. The game the forum's for is pretty cool too, provided you're not easily offended. :)

Think we could get a similar thing going here? No doubt everyone here'd probably be a lot better at it.

Bug Reports / Game bug with empty inventory
« on: June 01, 2008, 04:33 »
If I try to access my inventory while I have no items (mostly in Angel of Berserk while out of meds & armors early on), the game gives me a 'saved' message, shuts down, and when I load it up again and continue it, I find myself on the same floor, but with a completely new (unexplored) layout, with new items, monsters, etc. Anybody else had this happen?

Ah. Boo. :(

That reminds me, the Angel of Berserk description says that Large Health Globes are supposed to give a berserk effect. I've never seen that happen in any of my AoB runs. Is that just my copy being weird, or was it changed/not implemented yet?

In reference to this thread,

Angel of Confrontation

Pros: Less normal enemies, more/better items

Cons: Every floor has either a unique enemy (every floor except the 1st, special and boss floors), or a boss (every 5th floor)

The unique monster is of a type normally spawned by that floor, and is given bonuses to certain attributes, and/or a new ability (eg. former humans with dualgunner, imps with larger fireball explode radius, etc). Naturally, they give better XP than normal monsters (helps to offset the lower enemy count).

Boss floors are the same every time.

Requests For Features / Re: Unique monsters and bosses
« on: May 31, 2008, 04:24 »
While I just started playing the game a few days ago (addicted, already up to Demon Lieutenant), I'm all for this idea. Slaughtering hordes of regular goons is great, but a few harder/unique enemies would be awesome too. Spider Mastermind is a must IMO, and I think it'd be pretty cool to fight Doom 2's final boss (it'd have to be fairly different from the original game though, what with the lack of multiple height levels), but I think most of the Doom enemies are already in the game. Maybe adding some more 'traditional' (Lucifer, Beelzebub, etc), or D&D-styled demons would help to expand things a bit, but it depends how much Kornel wants to branch from a real Doom-like game I guess.

I think a new challenge mode for unique enemies and/or bosses would be an idea. As in, a unique/boss monster spawns every level/2 levels/etc, but with a smaller number of regular enemies as compensation? Possibly a few arena-style challenges?

Fantastic game so far, by the way :)
