this build is a lot of fun especially when it gets going with the poison cloud. are you limited to three bots following you per level?

i guess i forgot to gib a ravager... collecting all the goodies and running to the exit as fast as possible to have a respawned one appear right in my face and blast me before i get to react.... whoops

Bug Reports / part of level in mimir inaccessible

AoSh H difficulty seed 7328 - mimir l1 - looks like there is an area in the upper right hand corner that spawned thats totally inaccessible from the rest of the level that has three monsters in it which appear on the minimap

second attempt at this run - first time the only useful item near the archreaver spawn point was a full heal, but unfortunately got mobbed by unlucky spawns. this time i got a nice revolver that i carried to the end, and was able to hide behind a pillar and stave off all the archies, fortunately nothing respawned so when they were dead i was out of the level

cri laboratories was kind of a pushover here, i didnt encounter any keycards before the level, so i only had the one from the boss cri bot, and got lucky to open the healing room, which at that point was the only thing really useful as all my gear was more or less maxed out. plasma pistols are certainly far less useful in N! than UV, but are decent enough for picking off turrets to save a bit of ammo here and there

this got quite intense at points! i had started playing N! with angel of carnage, which is quite easy during callisto, but becomes much harder during europa as launchers don't deal quite enough damage to gib bigger enemies like ravagers, so i thought i'd try a sharpshooter build. this is harder to get started but once you get going you're pretty hard to stop. JS revolver is enough to blow apart exalteds, and its certainly satisfying to watch those big chunks go everywhere. one of the main problems with io in normal difficulties - namely the cri steals a lot of your experience by infighting, its partially resolved here, as they rarely have enough power to gib enemies. exalted soldiers that spawn from dead cri marine corpses are much easier to deal with than the regular monsters - same goes with much of the exalted reavers that spawn from archreavers, due to the lack of annoying acid attack

once it gets going, army of darkness skill is awesome, i got a great shotgun at valhalla command that carried me through the rest of the game. did not find any rocket launchers after callisto though, which has never happened before. noxious hollow is delightfully cruel, especially on first playthrough and i burned through all my medkits and the last few levels of the game (especially gateway) were on the skin of my teeth

mimir l1, seed 3239 - found an av2 basic helmet that had worse stats than the regular one - durability was 600/600, and allowed mod slots were 2 instead of 3, no extra bonuses for it

Bug Reports / chest spawning inaccessible medkit, callisto 2

seed 9803 - a med chest is in an adjacent square to one of those pits, opening it spawned the powerup but not the medkit, which i think went into the pit

General Discussion / hellrunner and waiting

quick question about mechanics - does hellrunner affect the amount of time you wait when you hit the "." key to wait or just when you move? i got wrecked during a melee run by a nasty combination of exalteds (soldiers + reavers) that both had the fast characteristic and they both seemed incredibly fast when trying to camp in a good spot

finally got a melee win on hard after casually trying for a while. nerfed bots on callisto makes it so getting R&T2 before europa is no longer necessary, allowing you the freedom to dump skills into hellrunner. once the vampyre build gets going its a real monster, especially in the late game when you're flush with med kits and grenades. while i didn't get any super lucky weapons - was stuck with a combat knife and katana through io - was fairly smooth sailing for most of the run. at the current stage of this build, europa is probably the most dangerous portion of the game, as bigger enemies will take two or three whacks with the machete to go down. by the time i had the demonic sword and the chainsaw, no monsters stood a chance. i put six krak grenades into the summoner and almost killed it damageless

this was a lot of fun and sharpshooter is very powerful once it gets going. i found a regular revolver which lasted me until valhalla command where i got the desert eagle, and once i found a 7.62 sidearm i stopped using 44 ammo altogether. the weapon performs very well and is great for ammo management in the lategame, about equivalent in power to an adv3 revolver. by the end of io i had pretty much all the gear i needed, with the exception of the adv3 energy pistol i got in limbo. i skipped cri labs as im not sure if the vault system was retooled in the same way that valhalla command was, i'll try here next. didnt want to risk fighing the swordsman without melee skills, although my last two playthroughs where i got to beyond 1 it seems like the chainsaw might be guaranteed?

i also saw a few new weapons i didnt pick up, including a 7.62 sniper rifle. im not sure if there are plans to add skills for single shot rifles as opposed to auto skills?

wanted to go for a sharpshooter build as it was one of my favorites in drl... did not encounter a single revolver all game, so was forced splitting the 9mm ammo stack between combat pistol and smg. accidentally went into the mines - while the archreavers were more of a pushover this time around due to the fact that i had found a rocket launcher, the rewards here are still kinda weak and aside from very situational challenges, i can't see ever preferring this branch to valhalla terminal/command

was doing kind of ok in europa, balancing out my 9mm weapons with chaingun and rocket launcher based on what was around, but eventually totally ran out of ammo. the cryoberos that killed me was pretty low in health and i thought i might be able to pistolwhip it before it got me but no such luck

Post Mortem / [0.8.10|U|Ma|YAVP] i came to shred

this is my first marine win on UV, couldn't get anything past callisto before this run. i didnt really know what i was doing with this build and more or less started the run to check out new content and didn't expect to get that far, so trait skill is kind of across the board. i got a really good cold shotgun early on, which boosted by the cri shotgun amp and the shredder trait one shots armoured ravagers when they show up. shredder is awesome! for the most part i played this like i did with the technician auto build, rotating around guns situationally based on what was around. since i only had three slots instead of four, i thought i might have had an issue with ammo in the lategame by not choosing to go for plasma weapons, but this wasn't an issue at all
