I usually take Scavenger whenever i feel like playing Ao100 but so far it has been actually useful once or twice....

The game just loves throwing armors and melee weapons my way whenever I take it.

doomrl.exe starts the graphical version, doomrl_console starts the normal ASCII version.

I'm now the kind of player who pretty much plays only to get more badges.
In the beginning if it wasn't for the badges, I would probably have ignored most of the challenges completely except for a quick trial run.
Ao100 sounded interesting enough though that I wanted to unlock that, which meant collecting badges and by the time I got to that point I was pretty much hooked on collecting badges. Now I'm mostly playing in order to eventually collect all the badges and medals I feel I have a reasonable chance of getting (bronze,silver,gold badges). If I suddenly reached a point where there were no more badges 'just within reach', I'd probably play DoomRL a lot less often.

So yes, I like the idea of having a lot more accomplishments to attempt but having nothing but the challenge+difficulty combinations would be boring. The special badges and the medals are a lot more interesting, but it doesn't matter much if we have for example the Speedrunner series as badges or as medals. Well, as long as most of the medals would not be hidden so you'd know what to attempt.

I'd damn well say it's harder, especially on AoHu.

Pretty much the only way to survive the ambush now is to find a phase or a lucky invulnerability...

It's not just you.

Malicious blades is good once you get it but without Berserk it's hard to survive that far, especially on AoB where you can't use guns to help with the trickier situations.

Yes, currently the map powerups are the only ones which are totally useless after you've already picked up one on that level.

But with the bruiser brothers just running around them is a good tactic - unless you're trying for Strongman Diamond/Platinum which require 100% kills.

Yeah, Strongman Platinum is much easier than any of the other Platinums and easier than most of the Gold ones.
I've avoided getting it so that if it gets changed in I won't have to restart again...

All in all, I really wish there were more pistol assemblies that didn't require exotic or unique mods.
Assemblies will see some changes in so you may get your wish then.

I was also (incidentally)  ;)  lucky enough to find a Grammaton Cleric Beretta!  Grammaton Cleric using Gun Kata = Epic!  :D  I just wish I'd had presence of mind to swap the Beretta into my primary slot at the end, so I could get the Grammaton Cleric Cross.
Grammaton Cleric Cross is currently bugged, you wouldn't have gotten it in any case.  Guess who found this bug the hard way :D

It's already fixed for though.

I was thinking about possibilities for a redesign. Here's one draft:
Well, it's certainly an improvement over the current one. No more wasting two medpacks just to clear the northern and southern room in AoB.

Maybe It's just being picky, but isn't it strange to have both the Malicious Knives and Sunrise Iron Fist in the same game?
I never thought of those two medals more difficult degrees of the same thing - one was supposed to be knives only and the other fists only.
Well, Malicious Knives allows you to use a chainsword which is quite a bit better than just using your fists...
