Heh, IDDQD and IDKFA *DID* work in DoomRL in some older version. However, even then they didn't work as ... expected (ask the old timers).

I replied IDDQD as mostly a joke.  XD  After all, cheats would make this... dang.... hard... game even on ITYTD... just maybe with a possibility of winning for some.  :(

The DoomRL is not that hard, just we (players) are spoilt by the easy games in which you can use SAVE & LOAD till you get the result that satisfy you.

Get used to dying, and keep playing roguelikes. Once you find winning strategy in one, it is easier to play another :) .

Advice 1: Don't savescumm :) . That is, do not save and load if you die. Start new game instead. With S & L you won't learn too much.
Advice 2: Put mortems in [ mortem] [ /mortem] tags.
Advice 3: Read DoomRL Wiki a bit and improve your builds. The one here is medicore, imho (especially for shotgun).
Advice 4: Against Cyberdemon use the most powerful weapon you have. Sinco you do not have BFG I would use Rocket Launcher there.

Yeah, think about your build a lot more. Your's was sorta terrible. You're going all over the place with your build, getting things that don't work well together. Or... At all. Son of a Gun only works with Pistols, which means that unless you're doing a pistols only game, it's totally useless. Secondly, for any of the rapid fire guns, you need a couple levels of Eagle Eye. Similarly, if you want to do a shotgun based character, you need shottyman, which is unlocked by having 2 levels in Reloader.

Secondly, think about what mods you're using on what. Like, you have a reload mod on a Combat Shotgun. This is mostly useless, considering you should move between shots with the combat shotgun anyway [if you move perpendicular or diagonally to/away from something firing at you, you get a dodge bonus], and you should be reloading it to full (using 'R' to quicken things) between combats. Similarly, magazine and reload mods on the rapid fire weapons aren't that great either as you shouldn't be reloading them in combat anyway (... Ideally.) Magazine mods are really only that useful on a BFG, as that increases the number of times it can be fired between reloads in a significant manner - Doubling it.

Finally, advanced guns allow you to put 4 mods on them, and then +4 per level of WhizKid, making them amazing weapons, if you can mod them well enough.

Quoted for truth.

What I really wanna see for a shotty game is an advanced SSG, and then damage mods on nearly every leve. >:D

Can anyone say 10d3x3 damage? :D

That would, I think, be a sight of true beauty and rapture.

Yes... Yes it would.

Although I think you can only put 3 damage mods on at a time.  Ah well, that's still a good solid 27-81 damage. :D

I can't recall if it's 3 or 4, to be honest. Rarely do I see that many speed or damage mods once I have a weapon that can use that many mods.

3, I believe, as I'm quite certain I remember you can max out all 4 mod types on an advanced non-SG (which iirc can't use accuracy mods), by maxing WK and getting 12 mod slots per weapon.

Do magazine mods work on SGs? I thought they didn't work on single shot weapons, as I tried using one on a rocket launcher.
