I just moved my old player.wad into 0.9.9.6, and there are some peculiar results. There's not much to be done about the Grammaton Cleric Cross (I've never seen a Mastermind, not having played versions with it yet), but I notice, for example:

I don't have Heroic Bronze, but I have 8 unique medals.
I don't have Gatekeeper Bronze. This one's kind of arguable, because I've got several victories, but I've never fought Simon the Cyberdemon other than on the final level.
I don't have Centurial Bronze or Silver... but I do have Centurial Gold.

I suggest at a minimum, for example, if the player is awarded the Cheese Gold badge, this should automatically award the Cheese Silver and Cheese Bronze badges (I think pretty well all badges are like this); and player.wads be checked at load time to see if that condition doesn't apply, and missing badges awarded.

Actually not all badges are sequential, some require different approaches at different levels. As for the Heroic Bronze you should get it awarded as soon as you finish a game, as long as all 8 unique medals are valid in 0.9.9.6 (e.g. they weren't removed).

The lack of Centurial Silver is a bit vexing because I need one more silver badge for the next rank, although I have two golds.
