Barrels in The Wall
« on: September 28, 2007, 16:46 »

Because I got The Wall at level 13 after I figured I must've skipped it and traded my rocket launcher in for a BFG in Halls of Carnage and now I'm totally gonna cry. ;_;

Being unable to bust open the Wall is not bad.  Running out of bullets in AoMr in the Mortuary is bad.

Learn some perspective! ;)

I have to agree, I don't see anything wrong with guaranteed entry to the wall. Especially given that AoMr has no way to open it whatsoever.

As far as i saw, BFG could destroy walls.)

About The Wall - i like the way it is now. Certain special levels are good or useless for certain games, challenges and character builds. AoMr character can survive pretty well without backpack. AoB character don't need it, or ARL at all. And if you want backpack, or ARL, you must plan from the beginning inventory and character that could destroy Wall and kill everything that is behind it.

Double-oh-Seven, did you try to use phase devices ?
Maybe some portable explosives should be added there ? You know, some smaller calibur than nuke ?

Phase devices work about 50% of the time for me in AoMr. Perhaps the Wall could be modified so that a phase device always puts you somewhere in the left half of the level, but then getting out in AoMr would require dodging rockets next to the wall so that the enemies break through for you (I've done it, but you take quite a beating in the process - I've only survived it once.) The Backpack isn't really all that useful in AoMr, though, so it may not be worth the tradeoff.

I really don't think the Backpack is necessary or even all that helpful for AoMr at all.  In fact, since it's very easy to get by with a single pistol now that mods are in, I'd even go so far to say that if you *can't* figure out how to beat AoMr without a backpack or feel you need one that you are playing the challenge wrong.
