Now that we have the ability to use prepared melee weapons without actually haveing to switch to them first, I thought I'd give our favorite shotgun and chainsaw wielding hero/madman a try.

The main problem with this attempt seems to be that in order to be a good shottgunner, you need to get three traits as soon as you can. In order to be a good meleer, you need four traits. And to be able to use prepared melee weapons without switching to them, you need two more.

Basically, the build doesn't work well until level 9 at least. And since you don't have intuition (therefore able to safely find a monster spawning lever) good luck getting there without dying.

Oh, and you have to do it without any of the health increasing/damage reducing traits.

Of course, that won't stop me from trying. :) Here's an earlier attempt... (spoilered for size reasons)

This one suffers the same problems as the last one. 3 SOG, 3 Brute, 1 Berserk, 1 Fin, 1 Jugg = 9 traits, only difference is that I can shoot faster with the pistol than with a shotgun.

Ranged traits aren't needed at first, I think. Try it with taking Juggler first, then melee traits, then others...

BTW : What trait, Kornel ?

That would be nice, but how would you go about it?

You could drop juggler, and then put in a new trait that does what jugg does, and adds a little melee damage. From what I've seen, unless you have damage boosting traits melee hurts you more than the other way around.

Juggler is a kickass trait in theory, but in it's execution... :(
