Amen to that!

Allthough I prefer the gauss shotgun.

Plasma Shotgun, Gauss Shotgun, Jackhammer - the great trio.

I just downloaded and tried Phobia 3 ... and I still say Crimsonland is better. Reason? Phobia's control system sucks badly - mouse + keyboard is so much better...

I agree, The circle around the cursor indicating aim jitteryness was also a nice touch..

Hey I had an idea, If we have around 3-4 people here that have crimsonland then we could have a competition to see who can rack up the best score in survival!

No trainers please..

Also I envisioned another similar idea: "The Gauntlet" which would function something like this:

Awww, great quake1 mod (now dead) immediately flashed to mind. It was called Project moon. You had a (rather small) castle with shop, selling ammo\weapon\armour\artefacts there, Heart of Castle and mine (gold was generating as you were standing there). There was a cave outside castle, where monsters spawned (in a form of waves). You get gold, weapon and XP from enemies... XP could be used either for damage boost or for MaxHP increase. Your goal was not to let monsters get to the Heart of Castle and kill it...

Apart from shop&mine, I guess everything else is easily recreated using DRL engine :). Only additional AI scheme for hunting non-PC target would be required...

Unsure is it worth doing, and whether it'd play good in roguelike :). Just some random flash of idea ;).

There is another VERY simmilar game called Crimsonlands ... it is even more addicting thanks to several diffrent weapons and "perks" system

Yep, it's one of the best. There's another game of this kind called "R. I. P", but it's plain boring... On the other hand, there's "Evil Invasion", which is good :).

http://www.vhgames.com/

It's commercial, not freeware, but if someone likes it well enough, send me an email (look in profile) and we'll think about it ;).

I think I either played it and used up my time or tried to play it but it had some errors on my computer - not sure as I played 3-4 simmilar games that time

PS. Kornel or some mod should split Phobia/Crimsonland/whatever-related posts in to new topic :P

miniBB doesn't seem to support topic splitting feature... All I can do is to move entire topic into "Discussion" section and rename it to something like "Survival shooters", which isn't exactly what is needed, since there is some potentially useful information for development of DoomRL, which has it's right to reside in "Requests for features". I wonder if I should simply copy-paste everything non-DRL into a new topic, with manual separation by posters... that looks like a crude solution, but I can't think of anything else.

The shareware version would work just fine for this kind of thing, All you need to do is survive long enough to rack up a high score.

Not really - you get 30 minutes of play before the game gets blocked ... he probably used it up already ... besides in shareware he doesn't get 905 of good stuff - he'd had a much harder time

At present the competition is theroy, I would say the method for submitting scores would be a screenshot of the post-mortem screen.

P.S - I hope your friend is good. :-)
