Mine is synonimous with the words boots. And gothic. So gothic boots, than.
Because nothing beats spending a king's arsenal of ammo, armor and medkits trying to get to the end of the Lava Pits only to find some useless boots. Really unforgetable experiance it was, really.

Lava my ass. I don't care.(i lol'ed so hard at that) and i'd rather wade through a lake of molten rock for kick-ass hell boots than go to Hot Pocket for crappy vinyl knock-offs :P bring an envirosuit next time. they even GIVE you one for the trip back.

You should ALWAYS have at least 2 envirosuits if you want to survive The Lava Pits...

And indeed I had them. The problem is, Lava pits are guarded. And since you can carry only a limited amount of envirosuits, you are forced to break through enemy forces rather than take your time and do things properly. And Gothic Boots are just not worth the resources needed to pass Lava Pits. So naturally, I was a bit... disappointed.

Just tried my first shottyman runthrough, got struck by bad luck time after time. I kept running into "barrel levels", found an awefull lot of useless weapon mods (while I normally go for pistols and crave them). Found Gothic boots on level 11 which were useless :(. The entire game, which lasted untill level 13 (orso) I was still walking around with the default shotgun (couldn't find any other shotgun).

Man, Doomrl can be frustrating.

Seriously though, RNG is just that - random.  I once found Assault Shotgun when I decided to try Shottyman for a zillionth time (lost that one anyway).  On the other hand, I lost count how many times I found advanced chainguns and plasma rifles on levels 20+ with no weapon mods whatsoever on the way down to Cybie...  On the AoMr above I haven't seen a single weapon damage mod the whole game.  Weapon reload and magazine mods, though, were plentiful.

I was finding dozens of reload and magazine mods on AoMr as well. And damage ones are rarer than uniques.

Try this on for size. you see: a baron of hell(unhurt) fire plasma rifle! this punk'll go down in under half a clip!...you see: a baron of hell(almost unhurt) huh? switch to Assault Shotgun and close to melee range. Fire. you see: a baron of hell(almost unhurt) WTF? Empty the AS INTO HIS FACE, taking some damage on the way. you see: a baron of hell(lightly wounded) Yeah. Turns out he was wearing the Baron Armor. I had to shoot him many many times, and when i was done, the armor was like 1/6 (my armor went from brand spankin' shiny new and modded for protection to 1/5) and i wanted nothing so much then as a cigar and a 'kick monster corpse' command.

In my early plays, i played only AoMr. I went to lvl 15-17(it was long time ago). There were a hellish city.Cleaned it. Left 1 unit. Left 1 house. Open the door. Find myself fired by a h. Fire him. Not dead. He fires me. I'm dead. That bastard have killed me when I've started to recognise the tactic of the game! Bastard bastard bastard!
About uniques, I finded almost in every AoMr game Grammathon clerics beretta. And in the melee game I found butchers cleaver 2lvl after the chained court(where are the chains,huh?). I thought this randomizer randomizez uniques to your style of play.
P.S: advanced BFG is always in The Mortuarry on the one of the edges.
