How to color your names (o rly?)
« on: June 07, 2009, 15:21 »

For the people who want the ability to color your name, you apparently don't mess with control characters ("@#", where # = any character you want). So I will tell you how to color your names! :D

Okay, go to doomrl.ini. I assume all of you know about that, so I won't explain what that is. Then, go to AlwaysName, and ignore the 'no control characters or you will burn in hell' warning. You know you've already had a few builds burn in hell, so you're not in any danger, right? :P Then where your name is, stick control characters whereever you want to change the color of your name.

Letter colors:
@>: remove custom color
@b: dark blue (ie blue armor)
@a and @B: bright blue (ie weapon speed mod)
@c: dull turquoise (ie plasma cells/gun)
@C: turquoise (ie weapon magazine mod)
@d: dark gray (ie shotgun (shells))
@D: black (do you need help on this one?)
@g: dark green (ie green armor)
@G: bright green (ie uniques)
@l: light gray (ie pistol/10mm ammo)
@L: white (ie steel boots)
@n and @N: brown (ie rocket (launcher))
@r: dark red (ie red armor)
@R: bright red (ie small health packs/globes)
@v: dark purple (ie BFG9000)
@V: light purple (ie weapon accuracy mod)
@y and @Y: yellow (ie fastload/rapid/extended/advanced weapons)

Experiment, but remember this may void your warranty. Oh wait... ;)
Post any new ones you find, and if you find the "remove custom color" control char, POST DAT DAM TING!

Edit: After looking at the manuals, I figured out the 'remove custom color' control char. Look at the list to find it.
Yes, with your eyes!

Hehe, on a semi-related note, if you hit Escape at the 'enter name' prompt, you become John Romero.

That would be hilarious if you used a build with that name to kill JC. "You're fired!" :P

Naw, it randomly picks from the names of DooM staff or DoomRL "staff", iirc.

Probably because it's not used ingame?
