-- History ---------------------------------------------------

He started his journey on the surface of Phobos.
On level 4 he stormed the Chained Court.
On level 7 he found the Blaster!
On level 12 he ventured into the Halls of Carnage.
On level 18 he found the Phaseshift Boots!
Then at last he found Phobos Arena!
On level 25 he finally defeated the Cyberdemon.

-- Messages --------------------------------------------------

You enter a big arena. There's blood everywhere. You hear heavy mechanical
 footsteps...
 You start running!
 You swap your weapon.
 You stop running.
Fire -- Choose target... The missile hits the Cyberdemon. The Cyberdemon
 fires! You are hit!
Fire -- Choose target... The missile hits the Cyberdemon. The Cyberdemon
 reloads his rocket launcher.
Fire -- Choose target... The missile hits the Cyberdemon.
You reload the BFG 9000 with power cell. The Cyberdemon fires! You are hit!
The Cyberdemon reloads his rocket launcher.

-- General ---------------------------------------------------

Before him 192 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:
 164 of those were killed.
4 of those were killed by something unknown.
1 didn't read the thermonuclear bomb manual.
And 17 couldn't handle the stress and committed a stupid suicide.

Some rumours though, say that the Cyberdemon was killed already!
Is he immortal? 6 souls claim to have killed him...
6 killed the bastard and survived.

--------------------------------------------------------------
I was really surprised to come upon the Blaster so quickly after finding it in a previous run - but I'm not complaining.  It really meshes with my playstyle, and allows me to be a lot more reckless - even standing out in the open shooting (lone) enemies.  It also frees up loads of inventory slots that ordinarily would go to ammo.

Once again I collected a small stack of mods and ended up ditching them one by one for other things.  Advanced weapons are so much more mod-friendly than ordinary ones; but it's rare you get an advanced weapon that matches your already-determined build.
Maybe regular weapons should be allowed 2 mods + 2 more for each level of whizkid?

Useless planeshift boots - I already had some boots that gave me +10% speed (and -10% knockback), using the planeshift boots would have given me 5% more speed but a knockback penalty.  I love the boots mobility mod.

Badass worked really well with nightmare - since all the powerups healed double as much, there was a much higher tendency to go >100% health, so slower erosion really allowed you to take advantage of that extra health.

Once again 3 Tan + 3 Iron really rocked, especially when my armor kept getting destroyed very quickly.

A close call on Phobos Hell 7:  was a little too greedy for experience and was faced with a mass of archviles, mancubi, barons of hell, cacodemons, and revenants.  Even after pasting them with 5 BFG shots and consuming 3 large medpacks - I had to retreat with a homing phase device.

Again I didn't use pistols against Cyberdemon...I probably could have, but whatever, I killed him just the same.

I took a lot fewer turns than my UV win; I'm getting more comfortable playing at high difficulty levels now.  Of course part of the reason for the high number of turns in the UV win was because I kept running back and forth in the spider's lair waiting for the Arachnotrons to one by one randomly teleport in front of me at the side of the level.

Oh - and respawning Anarchnotrons supplied a ton of Power Cells.

Replay: http://willhostforfood.com/?Action=download&fileid=72438.  Once again use http://dosrecorder.sourceforge.net/ to play.

Just messing with us eh? I've only found 2 boots mobility mods ever, and yes, they're that awesome. That makes them just as rare as MegaSphere to me :P.

One small advice for Ao100. Ammunition is a big issue, so unless you find another Unique Pistol be sure to take a good shotgun down; there simply aren't enough bullets in contrast to loads of former sargeants.

P.S. - Good job on beating Nightmare!.

Looks like the RNG likes me more than you in that respect.  Boot mobility mods aren't too rare for me - I've probably seen about a dozen, and even in my UV win that I posted earlier I had 2.

Thanks.  I really do feel like I'm getting better at this game.  Playing easier difficulty levels (to try a shotgun build) is a breeze now even if I do what I now regard as reckless moves.

At first I couldn't stomach the idea of playing a game with resurrecting enemies, but I recalled a post I saw that mentioned letting go of killing everything and that helped a lot.
