Nah, should be completly harmless - player.wad gets edited only when you win/die anyway.

DisaffectedBeta:
It's crashed every time I've played, starting from the first level and never recovering.  The music still plays, though.  I just started from scratch, and didn't mess with any of the files.

Regarding sound: is it normal (intended) that the game messes up with my system mixer settings (MIDI volume level) ?
