Well. I never had played Doom or any of it's sequels, so I really have no clue if my idea is 'doomish'. Probably not, but heck, straying from canon is not that bad after all.
So, the idea is about a weapon- rifle. It should become an alternative to shotguns, pistols and chain weapons, best suited for the players that want very sniperistic gameplay.
Rifle
Another day, another corpse, another bullet is gone
Damage: 4d5
Accuracy: +4
Firing time: 1.5 sec
Magazine size: 5
Ammo used: 10mm
Reload time: 1 sec for one bullet
Alt. reload: Fill the magazine- like in c. shotty
Alt. fire: Aimed shot: -2 accuracy, +0.5 sec firing time, +5 damage
Stats are pretty medicore- without additional traits, it beats chaingun and is inferior to shotguns on short to medium range. Also, there are no traits that benefit it strongly- but, along with the weapon idea, I suggest implementation of following advanced and master traits:
Headshot
Boom!
Requires: SoB 2
You're an adept at shooting demons where it hurts them most. Aimed shots with the rifle no longer dampens your accuracy, and damage increase from them is doubled.
Balkan Sniper
Be polite. Be efficient. Have a plan to kill everyone you meet.
Requires: EE3 and SoB3
Blocks: Iro, HR, TaN
One shoot- one kill. You really like those words, and you use them as your motto. Aimed shot damage from both pistols and rifles damage is doubled- and it is after all modifiers.
Headshot trait should give some chance to deal with mid-game enemies. And Balkanise Sniper gives you ability to one-shoot cacos and possibly HK's (dealing 20+10+6 damage on average, with 40+10+6 maximum) and two-shot everything else. Prolonged firing time, however, makes you very vulnerable to enemy fire.
Opinions?
