The Master and the Minion - IC Thread
Xander Morhaime:
The townsfolk that had started gathering around the fight to watch before now began to disperse at speed when Ma'kirr revealed her true allegiance. By the time she was done, the remaining three watchmen were lying on the ground in quickly growing pools of blood, and the veterans were in a likewise sorry condition, though they at least could keep standing... barely. The townsfolk, on the other hand, were by that point at a full run back to their homes with screams of panic.
"VERY impressive, girl... you're definitely showing potential for this work," the Overlord remarked with a chuckle, his voice ringing directly in your mind.
The villagers only ran faster when Ryltar summoned up the cloud of darkness. There were a few muted cries heard from within its concealment, followed by two heavy thuds in quick succession.
Seeing the slaughter, one of the two remaining unharmed veterans began to inch away from the battle, clearly uneasy about what he'd just seen. Unable to draw a bead on Ma'kirr thanks to the enveloping cloud, he loosed a bolt at Saliak instead, but missed horribly. His companion in turn threw aside his crossbow, drew his sword and charged in swinging at Saliak, but failed to land a blow as well.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)Well...
Ma'kirr kills three watchmen, leaves two veterans badly bloodied, and batters an already bloodied one even further.
Ryltar finishes off two of said bloodied veterans.
The two unharmed watchmen attack Saliak, but both miss.
And for the spy stunt she pulled off, Ma'kirr receives...

Tavana:
"You rabble are badly trained. Though considering how easily your captian fell, it does stand to reason that he would teach you to flee once we've slaughtered half your rank." After delivering his insult to the back of the fleeing watchman, Saliak disengaged himself from the current 'rabble' in order to attempt to end the suffering of two at once.

Gargulec:
'Oh please, we are destroying everything they have, and soon we will have to burn this town to the ground... We do not have to add to their suffering by taunting them, you know...' uttered Tristan, seemingly oblivious to the fact that Saliak's tirade would have problems intimidating small children. He then tried to hit the villager before him, but missed really badly.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)Obvious miss (12) on at-will power... Darn.
Madtrixr:
"Hmm...The insult itself wasn't bad...but you lack a certain...panache. Let me try it."
Aden clears his throat.
"Hear this, all of you brave yet forsaken soldiers! We are imbued with the power of the evil Overlord. Even if you strike us down, we shall come back again and again! Your only options are to surrender, and wait for death, or attempt to flee. If you manage to get away from us, you may enjoy life a bit longer! THE DECISION IS YOURS! CHOOSE NOW!"
And he was done. Aden probably fudged the "again and again" thing, but they didn't need to know that. Same thing with the "life for a bit longer", it should have been good enough, if not to outright scare them into retreat or submission, at least plant a seed of doubt in their minds. He wonders what to do next.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)(Minor or Standard?Guess it doesn't matter, this will be the only action I take this turn, seriously, I think you guys have a handle on it.) Intimidate check on all remaining enemies (N4:(1d20+7=25))

Xander Morhaime:
As his companion fell to the ground screaming in pain at the flames enveloping him, the other veteran facing down Tristan showed a remarkable amount of sense and self-preservation...
He bolted away from the paladin before Aden got five words out, trying to make a run for it. Tristan managed to land a blow on the coward, but he kept on running in spite of it, sword and crossbow abandoned, tossed to the ground to make his escape all the faster.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)Saliak kills the veteran at K12. The veteran at K13 makes a run for it, is injured and still bloodied by Tristan, but still alive.
If any of you want to make ranged attacks on him (coughryltarcough), he is now 13 squares away from Ryltar's current position.
The other two veterans haven't yet decided what to do.
No significant map changes - just the two veterans that Tristan had next to him are gone, and Saliak shifted to I10.
