I went into this game with some goals in mind:  Get Shottyman gold and silver and maybe, if I could, get veteran platinum.  The game was going very well;  I had an assault shotty, and for a while, a super shotty, which I later replaced with the Jackhammer.

Unfortunately, I ran into ammo shortages toward the end and I was forced to skip the lava pits, so I figured that I'd just nuke cybie for a partial win.  Then when I found an invulnerability on level 24, I got overly greedy and tried for the full win even though I only had a handful of shells left.  I should have known I didn't have enough ammo.  I should have just nuked JC.  I wouldn't have gotten the platinum, but I could at least have achieved the shottyman badges.  As it is, that's over three hours of gameplay for nothing, because I didn't get any badges.  :(  Just stupidity on my part, I guess...

And pretty damn near to four hours. Ouch man. Remember you can take a breather and step away to clear your mind. Overplaying can lead to poor decisions, like picking up a nuke on AoI.

Yeah, good advice...  (If I could only pry myself away from the game)  :P

I suppose next time I should get SOB earlier to save shells.  That and/or get the Arch-Viles to raise sergeants a few times.
