I opted for speedloaders and SoB over Gun Kata for this run and it worked out very nicely. Pistols become serious powerhouses as you pile on the traits. Was originally aiming for a 100% game but some really sticky situations in phobos hell discouraged me from that idea quickly. There were only a couple moments where my character was in serious danger, and I now find UV Hell's Arena to be easier on marksmanship runs than with a combat shotty to the point that I can clear the whole thing taking at most two or three hits. Will probably be trying UV shotty or Nightmare max carnage for my next challenge.

Welcome to the forums! Just a couple of quick mentions before I get into your run:

- Make sure you add the AoMr, even if it's the Marksman Lounge. If, at some point, we reorganize the sub-forums, it'll be a lot easier to move everything where it needs to be without problems.
- It looks like you used pastebin before posting it. There should be a folder in your game marked "mortem" where all of your post-mortem records exist: in addition, your most recent mortem should be in the main DoomRL folder. Copy-paste from there next time, it's a lot easier to read through (and then I don't have to edit out every pastebin'd line).

Looks like a pretty smooth UV AoMr run, though that's still saying a lot. Speedloader + SoB is definitely a great choice, maximizing damage output while delimiting the restraint caused by reloading. Congrats on beating the Arena Master, too: that can be pretty nasty with all those captains running around. I'm actually interested in how you went about clearing the Chained Court, seeing the numerous problems of completing it in a pistol-only game.

Well done, and I'm looking forward to seeing your next victories.

Hey, thanks for fixing up my post, I'll keep the formatting in mind in the future.

The first few times I tried beating the arena master on AoMr were total disasters. I would camp out in the starting room and take potshots outside, trying to preserve the berserk packs until they were needed. Playing it out that way though became a war of attrition that I would always lose, especially when a baron inevitably destroyed one or all of the remaining packs.

This time (and this strategy has worked for me every time I've tried it so far), I wait as long as i can in the starting room to give the master some time to move closer. When I spot a baron or feel that it's been long enough I grab all the berserk packs + chainsaw and wade right into battle. Focus all your fire on the master and he will eventually go down, especially if he is positioned in a way that the former captains are hitting him as well. You can expect to have to use at least one large or a couple small medpacks, so don't attempt this without some healing.

Once he's dead you should have more than enough time on the berserk clock to run back to the starting room and finish off the level in the typical marksman manner.

It's the kind of thing that seems a lot harder than it is, just gotta go in guns blazing.
