Okay, so I guess I'm not done with this game yet. :P
So, my goal, this run, was to get the medals that require you to not take any damage, Hell Arena Pwnage, Shambler's Head, and Angelic Badge. (If there was such a medal as "John Carmack's Head," I would have gotten that too, since I killed him without taking damage!) :) Cateye and Int 2 seemed to be the best way to go about it and playing Angel of Max Carnage made things a lot simpler, so I figured I'd go for Destroyer Diamond while I was at it. What I *didn't* expect was to get Conqueror Badge! :o I've never gotten Conqueror in a Nightmare game before; I didn't even know it was possible!
Most of the run was slow and painstaking, making sure to keep all enemies out of view, or once I got Cateye, at the very edge of my view, so they didn't get a shot at me. I think the most tedious part was Hell Arena, because I didn't have Cateye yet, so I was shooting everything outside my visual range and I probably used something like 600 bullets, but I got a lucky break in the third round of HA because both Barons spawned close together in a position that I could easily corner-shoot them and a couple of very obliging Demons came along at just the right moment to let me do some corpse-stacking to replace the Baron bodies with Demon bodies.
Hell's Armory was a breeze, in comparison, because I had Cateye. I used my plasma rifle on the Shambler from beyond his visual range and used my rocket launcher to knock him back if I felt he was getting too close. (I had a previous Shambler's Head attempt ruined because he teleported right next to me and scratched me in one move; I didn't have a chance back then, but I guess I got lucky this time)
By the time I got to the Mortuary, I had Finesse 3, SoB 4, HR 2, and I had an Assault Rifle and Tactical Shotgun. My plasma rifle was doing enough damage that I was able to drop Arch-Viles with one volley, but energy cells were scarce, so I saved those for when I needed them. When I first assembled the Assault Rifle, I was a bit miffed to discover that it caused knockback, because that meant that I might not be hitting with all of the bullets in each volley, but once I was in the Mortuary, I was *very* thankful for the knockback because it was a huge help in keeping enemies away from me and bullets were very plentiful, thanks to Former Captains about. I had a Blood Skull, Fire Skull, and Hatred Skull from the City of Skulls which I used to clear most of the corpses in the centre of the map, and I shot at the edges with my rocket launcher to clear the corpses there. Periodically, I would hit enemies with the rocket launcher if they were standing next to a corpse I wanted destroyed; fortunately, rockets were plentiful, thanks to all the Mancubi around. I tried to be as careful as possible to destroy all corpses as I proceeded so that no one would surprise me, but there were still two occasions when I suddenly found myself surrounded by monsters that had just revived around me. At those moments, I was thankful for my Finesse 3 and Tech-modded plasma rifle to drop them all before they got a shot off, not to mention Juggler, which let me switch weapons on a second's notice to whatever was most appropriate at that moment.
The real surprise victory was Unholy Cathedral because I didn't prepare for it at all, with no Ironman, TaN, or Brute. I relied purely on speed and timing. Someone told me, a while back, that timing chainsaw hits so that the AoD doesn't hit you back is more trouble than it's worth, so... I guess the fact that I did it shows something about my character. (what it shows, I don't know) :P

With Finesse 2 and the Scout's natural speed boost, I was chainsawing at 0.64 sec, so that gave me a very narrow margin for error. At first, I wore my Agility-modded Duelist Armor, which brought my walking speed to 0.4 sec/move, which gave the AoD a very predictable movement pattern, he would move two squares, then pause, then move one square, then pause, then repeat that pattern. My first few attempts to hit him allowed him to hit me back and he nearly destroyed my Duelist Armor and forced me to use a couple of large med-packs. After that, I switched to my Tactical Armor, which gave me 0.51 sec/move and the slightly irregular movement rate turned out to be a huge advantage! I did a few laps around the Cathedral, observing his movement patterns. They seemed pretty erratic at first, sometimes he would take three steps and pause and sometimes he would take four steps and pause, seemingly at random intervals, but the pattern did eventually repeat and I soon discovered that if I timed my chainsaw strike for right after he did two consecutive sets of four steps, I could hit him without him hitting me back! I repeated this process many times, doing countless laps around the Cathedral, and eventually, I defeated him without taking any more damage. EDIT: And now, I have the Benny Hill theme song running around my head. :P
Nothing else to say except that I breezed through the Lava Pits so quickly, that I killed everything, including the Lava Elemental, before my first Envirosuit even wore off!
EDIT: Oh yeah! I almost forgot! I got Gatekeeper Platinum too! :) Again, I took advantage of Cateye. I tunneled into the walls at the first ambush with my rocket launcher and took everyone out from beyond their visual range with either chaingun or plasma rifle, whatever seemed appropriate. The Bruiser Brothers got themselves drilled by plasma fire or knocked back by rockets, whatever seemed appropriate. :)
