So far, DoomRL is all about speedruns or surviving to the end under certain circumstances.
That's fun, but sometimes I just feel like screwing around in a playground not quite as old-school, collecting toys and using them to mow down demons and collect even more toys on my way to level 50 and certain death at the hands of the end boss.
Would it be Another DoomRL2 Thing to suggest a mode of DoomRL that's less like Rogue and more like Angband or Tales of Middle Earth? Less a one-way plunge to hell and more an exploration of a vast military complex, perhaps with some locale persistence and the available fallback of a safe town to spend gathered currency on weapons and items (even if it's just a Dead Space-like kiosk)?
