After several more tries at strongman gold, I decided to do what I should have done from the start and went for Vampyre. With beserker and the marine bonuses everything became so much easier. By the time I got to the chained court, I had the inventory filled with medkits. Since I reached it at 200% hp, I saved all the berserker packs and the chainsaw for when it was finished (giftdroping really helped here) and the lasted to the anomaly, where I could massacre everything without a problem.

Well, I had a small problem that while vampyre kept me healthy, my armors kept getting destroyed. Since I still had a load of medkits, I decided to solve this problem by going around without armour. It proved to me much simplier and didn't even bother me at all.

I tried to clean the mortuary, but in the end it proved to be too dangerous, so I retreated. I think I would have made it, but I didn't want to risk it.

Mastermind was quite easy, though I was a little scared until I started to zerk. From that moment she was doomed.

Congratulations! I'll be attempting this one soon, so it helps to see that someone else has done it. Good tip about the armor too, I'll probably end up doing that too.

powered armor would be my choice should I ever get a nano pack in such a run, but it requires breakup from action once in a while, or else it'll crumble. Onyxed ballistic vest/red/phaseshift would be an alternative... but I yet have to find an onyx pack in 0996. Onyx armor/P - well, a dead wish :)

BTW people, what protection does the nanofiber green have, 1 or 0?

For some reason I forgot to enter Hell's armory, so I never had enough mods. I was glad that I was able to assemble the chainsword (using piercing kife most of the game) after slapping a power mod on the anomaly red armour without thinking much about it. Lack of armour wasn't at all a problem for me (well, maybe if I had good armour, I wouldn't chicken out of the mortuary) but assembling some kind of indestructible/regenerating armour (even tactical) would be helpful.

Also, if you attempt this challenge - go for vampyre, forget about malicious blades =)

probably because it's easier ;) see, while you're weak and low on level, you need berserker to absorb damage, and you can't get berserker if you target MMB. Facing hell knights without berserk is troublesome. Also that 50% marine bonus on powerups is worth it, along with Bad acessible at once, on the contrary WK for MMB build is almost useless, both assemblies for blades do not require WK (and if you would manage to lay hands onto a nano pack, getting Fin-Fin-WK past master trait is a lot easier than first getting WK and the item (antigrav boots) and then getting master trait.

While this "challenge" seems to be made for malicious blades, it's very hard to survive long enough to actually get the trait, because it bocks berserker.

The technician tracking maps helped a lot in ambushing imps demons, and instant consumption of medkits was also very nice, but ultimately more health and longer berserk duration is much much better, and once you get berserker, your defence is so much better. Best proof is that after dozens of technician tries I won it in 2-3 marine attempts. At some points in this game I was actually thinking that I accidentally set it to lower difficulty.

Malicious blades is a good trait, but not so good in melee-only challenges. It's best if you can use a shotgun until you get it.

BTW, another tip if you want to attempt this: you are allowed to shoot any gun, as long as nothing dies while you're holding it. Best way to deal with demons (unless you are zerked) is to shoot them with a shotgun a couple of times and then finish them off with knife/fists. From my experience, as long as they are not in point-blank range, you can safely shoot at "wounded" pinkies. Take care not to kill anything else that might be standing behind the demons, though.

Another way is to lure them into acid pools (which you can prepare yourself with good barrel placement).

If you find a vault that's (based on sounds) filled with pinkies, I've found it best to open the vault using a barrel (close doors and shoot them to be able to push barrels through them), let the demons disperse, and then kill one at a time.

Oh, and if you know there's a pinky who you don't want to engage, don't leave any doors leaving to his room open. In case he begins to chase you, if you start running, you should be able get one step ahead after a few tiles, run behind a door and shut it to his face.

OH yeah, this sounds similar, I wonder why ...

...

I know, it is because of Triggerhappy needed for Cateye. Why would Cateye be a trait for burst damage builds (and not sniper/pistol ones), is beyond my imagination.

Well, if it had different prereqs, then at (presumably) the same minimum experience level you'd have a worthless MBD, and it would take more levels before you get any of the benefits.  Frankly, I don't care for MBD anyways.

Yeah, that's what I don't like: the fact that the trait's effect is dependent on a different trait. Other pistol masters are much more attractive to me.
