The shotgun: the perfect weapon. The only thing to say about the early game is that I've finally mastered Nightmare! arena and Chained Court. I like getting Hellrunner x2 as my first two traits regardless of what build I'm going for, and Dodgemaster is endlessly helpful for baiting enemies as well as making basically immune to Arena damage. I just gather all the monsters together at one pillar and dance around until a Caco gibs them. The Chained Court involves, again, dancing in front of Barons until they wander too close to the lava, at which point I shotgun them in. The Arena Master dies to normal corner shooting.
I scored a lucky Invulnerability globe near the stairs to the Anomaly, which made it easy to clear the first Ambush. The Brothers simply cannot stand up against a double shotgun. Fun times. With Dodgemaster the Cyberdemon couldn't land a hit, naturally.
I was feeling cocky and there was yet another conveniently placed Invuln globe so I dived into the Mortuary. I managed to kill all the Viles and snag the nuclear BFG, but without method of gibbing corpses I had to retreat. I was a little concerned that this would leave enough enemies alive to put me below 80%, but as you can see it didn't actually matter.
JC was actually killed by friendly fire. Hell's a rough place.
I think this has to be my favorite build aside from pure melee (which feels so overpowered that it strips the fun right out of the game). A speed-equipped Scout with Shottyhead moves and fires four times a second, which is just a real problem for enemies to deal with. Also, in addition to making it very easy to never take damage ever, Intuition + Shotgun knockback is amazing for corpse elimination.
