Earphones help a lot, since they warn you more efficently than the default laptop's audio output.
Untouchable medal is beyond my atual ability, but I menage to get the Untouchable Badge and then Destroyer Gold.

The 3rd point in SoB after MCe is really useful in AoMC, because let you one-shot Cacos with chaingun and Knights with Gatling Gun.

Fireshield helps a lot, specially in the mortuary.

After I cleared City of Skulls, I ran out of ammo, and the next level I had to kill former humans to reload the gatling gun, then kill the arachs/former commandos to reload the plasma rifle. After I reached the Spider's Lair I solved the problem definitely.

I also find all 3 unique pistols plus the combat pistols, but I kept only the Trigun.

For the first time I won the Mastermind's Brain without an invulnerability globe. I just corner shot her until death.

My audio setup for DoomRL: Creative X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional sound card -> Schiit Asgard amp -> Ultrasone HFI 2400 headphones
I use a custom equalizer for doomRL, so I bump just the important frequencies, so I can tell enemies apart faster. Every half-second helps, right?

Speaking of hardware for DoomRL, one other thing that helps a lot is a good mechanical keyboard. I bumped my speed a ton when I moved to my current keyboard, which is a Azio Levetron Mech4, since I can rebind any key I want, I have a 3x2 array of macros right above the WASD cluster, and since it's got the black switches I can "float" keys by hovering right above the actuation point and sort of vibrating my fingers to get a massive boost in key actuation speed.

Secondarily, is there a framerate cap on the graphical version? I might be picking up a pair of ASUS MARS IIIs when they come out, and I want to see what kind of DoomRL framerates I could push.

FYI, Home, End, PgUp and PgDn work fine for diagonal movement even with a laptop keyboard.
And yes, my next laptop _will_ have the numpad, if only for the sake of roguelikes.

Heh, I use the numpad. On my keyboard it's detachable, so I just move it to the left side of my keyboard for Roguelike gaming. That way it feels more like a WASD pad.

Ah, the vi-keys ... Too bad I can never remember which of "j" and "k" is up and which is down :).
For the record, I have numpad on my laptop either. I use Home, End, PgUp and PgDn for diagonal movement and arrrows for horizontal and vertical. It takes quite a lot of moving the hand to different parts of the keaboard, but I never really cared about speedruns anyway ;).

My laptop doesn't have a real numpad, but there's alternate functions on 789uiojkl that do numpad input.  It's a bit awkward but still sufficient.
