This was my first attempt in Angel of Berserk in the newest version, and suffice to say I was completely outdoing myself (Chainsaw modded into piercing blade, tonnes of medkits, etc), and I got gutsy and wandered into the Halls of Carnage

Little did I realise, Angels of Berserk cannot break down the doors in the Halls.  The first time, I was smart enough to lure an enemy to blast open the door with a shotgun!  Nearly got me killed, but that's fine!  Killed him, went along--oh, right.  THere's... a second set.

As I waited for my inevitable demise because I cannot cut through walls with an armor-piercing chainsaw (?!?) I paced around, realising at the last moment that the lava ate through the walls.  Hello, three envirosuit packs!  I waited until the last second, strapped one on, and dived along the magma flood in impunity, certain I had escaped my fate!

...And was so cocky about my sudden success I was promptly mowed down by the enemies I had forgotten were back there.

Such a wonderful run, lost because of nothing more than my own stupidity.

Chainsaw _can_ open doors, as well as any other melee weapon. Step to the door, press "f" and then the direction of the door. Et voila!
Note that this does _not_ work for fists (known bug and fixed, IIRC) - only for weapons.

I don't really get why the doors are locked at all (yes, the sergeants could open them if they weren't). Isn't this like, the only level that has these? They've always felt kinda redundant for that reason.

I don't really get why the doors are locked at all (yes, the sergeants could open them if they weren't). Isn't this like, the only level that has these? They've always felt kinda redundant for that reason.
Maybe it's supposed to be a deterrent for AoPc as well as to prevent enemies to wandering in those areas prematurely.

Thanks for that, Zicher!  I always just kinda use the 'move into enemy' sort of firing when playing melee so I completely forgot that was an option, whoops!

And it is odd that more areas don't use this, but for the most part I can't think of any places that wouldn't be made simply easier by their inclusion (Hell's Armory springs to mind as becoming far easier if the denizens of the rooms didn't come out swinging of their own accord)

Let those cheap N! folks (no offence, but it is sometimes easier than UV) feel the real difficulty.

It would make N! quite easier actually.
No corpse destruction, but all enemies are stuck in their starting rooms.
Especially easy in levels with lots of small rooms.
No more scavenged vaults.
Paradise!

Also N! is easier than UV only on speedruns.And potentially with MVm.

No, monsters would be able to open / destroy them them. Doomguy not.

And N! should be always harder, in every possible aspect, imo.
