What's your crawling playlist?
« on: December 29, 2006, 14:32 »

Valkeera's thread reminded me of an idea of my own-

What's your music playlist while dungeon-crawling, with DoomRL or any other RL?

Basically, this is mine:

Exhumed - The Matter of Splatter (read the lyrics, and keep a dictionary nearby!)
Exhumed - A Song for the Dead
Exhumed - (a few others; whatever I have)
Cannibal Corpse - (anything fits :) )
Dying Fetus - One Shot, One Kill (there are more, but that one fits perfectly :P )
Slayer - Point
Slayer - Raining Blood
Slayer - (bahh, any Slayer song's fit for the slaughter!)
Gorgoroth - Destroyer
Mayhem - Chainsaw Gutsfuck (any guesses why? :P )
And many, various other gore/death/black metal songs.
I'll add somemore fitting examples when I'll have the patience ^^

And although I haven't recently, anything classical's perfect.
My brother used to play GTA3 only with classical, 'till the game got dull :P

Epic - Power - Heavy Metal, mainly. Also the Dark Side of Phobos or other videogame remixes from ocremix.

Main bands:
Elegacy
Rhapsody
Hammerfall
Angel Dust
Sonata Arctica
Darksun (spanish group)
Opera Magna (spanish group)
Nörthwind (spanish group)
Saratoga (spanish group)

I listen to many more bands, but those are the ones I listen to lately.

Basic Dungeon Crawl...

It depends on really the RL itself that kinda varies here, it's finding midis and mods that fits them.  It ranges from a bunch of hard rock, horror ambiance, and occational hiphop in towns, and some parts of the dungeons.

Incountering Pits and Vaults...

Metallica - Disposable Hero
Metallica - Frantic

Imminent death situations...

(none yet)

Angband got those music and sound file that sometimes work but pluh.  But I do wonder if some folk made apps for certain RLs to custom playlist instead of finding and searching in junk.  I'm shutting up.

Depends on the mood, but most thrash metal songs will fit.

Overkill - Time To Kill
Black Label Society - Stronger Than Death (don't tell me it doesn't fit Doom :D )
Black Label Society - Destruction Overdrive
Judas Priest - Jugulator
Judas Priest - Burn In Hell
Testament - First Strike Is Deadly
Testament - Into The Pit (These songs seem to be created for Rl games :D )

Funny, almost everybody here is listening to heavy music. And i'm not an exclusion. But in games, where i like music, i'm listening to it. I like original music from DooM 1 and 2, so DooMRl i'm playing without external sound.
Anyway, when i played Frozen Depth(little promo. I liked it, thanks, Glowie!)) i was listening to The Cure(not the heaviest music, but i only recently discovered for myself their work) and i must say that it really fits to Frozen Depth's atmosphere.

What i'm listening generally is depends on my mood. Here are some bands:
Rage, Iron Maiden, Korpiklaani, Bathory, Nomans Land, Red Elvises)), Arch Enemy, Einherjer, sometimes my own orchestrations)).

Well.. a typical tracklist for a 1-2h of Doom RL playing..

Andain - Beautiful Things (Photon Project Remix) (uplifting vocal trance)
Galen Behr Vs Hydroid - Carabella (Galen Beher & Orjan remix) (uplifting trance)
Airbase - Sinister (Misja Helslott remix) (uplifting trance)
Amex - Back In The Sun (Saint Rush Remix) (uplifting trance)
Armin van Burren - Communication Part II (Armin van Buuren's Remake) (uplifting vocal trance)
Tiesto - Traffic (trance)
Tiesto - Lethal Industry (trance)
Tiesto - Adagio for Strings (trance, only for special levels)
Giuseppe Ottaviani - Through Your Eyes (Original Mix) (uplifting trance)
Kamil Polner - Heart Of Sun (uplifting trance)
Kamil Polner - Adeamus (uplifting trance) (character death.. and my personal debriefing to understand why did I die..)
Menno De Jong & Leon Bolier - Tundra (Fierce Dub Mix) (uplifting trance)
ReLocate feat. Menno De Jong - Spirit (upliting trance)
Selu Vibra - Divine (Sean Tyas Rework) (uplifting trance)
T4L - Maximus (trance)
Veracocha - Carte Blanche (trance)

So.. seems like i'm the only one using EDM for Doom .. :D

yeah, shame on you who mute the music in doomrl :P
for other rl's i like either creepy/ambient music, like:

FSOL, the Orb, Fallout1/2 soundtrack :D, Thomas Fehlmann, Bjorn Torske

or, heavy drum&bass such as:

Noisia, Black Sun Empire, Skynet, Phace, Arcon 2 etc..
