GenTechJ's mortem dump
« on: January 10, 2007, 13:51 »

I figured I'll just keep all my mortems in one topic rather than creating a new topic for each mortem...anyways, my first time in the City of Skulls was very, erm, fatal...by the way, what exactly does Intuition do? I don't see anything different than usual with it...

wow. I remember when i SS'd my first game, and i didnt die anyway, so i stoped SSing. =p.

On-Topic: you need Intuition 3: enemies then appear as red dots in the black space.
Trait order? A good one might of beenL
EE*2->InT*3->IM or TaN*2.
Why did you have a nearly empty backpack? My backpack's always full by Dlvl5.
Chaingun for CoS: Nope. Shotty and chaingun are about the same speed(Note: double shotgun is Really slow, dont use) But a combat shotgun has a 2 turn pump. CoS+combat shotty=Some skull ownage.
I see you had rockets. Mabye you could've lured the skulls away from the rewards, and blowen them up?

Well, not only your pack is near empty (how'd you manage to do that? I'm honestly confused :) ), you didn't use that phase device! That's perfect for the CoS, especially with all those rockets!
I also suggest you trade your Hellrunner ranks for a more balanced TaN-HR-IM combo (choose two and alternate picks). I'd go for TaN(2) and HR(2) (I'm not much of an Ironman fan), and then maybe another one into TaN, but that's assuming your offensive traits are already balanced and mostly running (I'd mostly rather be in pain and killing than at a stalemate (or worse, if you can't hit/aren't causing real damage), but that's me).

Thanks for all the tactics everyone, this servant of the Emperor appreciates it...
As to the empty backpack, yeah, not too sure how I managed that either. I wound up using most of my med-packs a level or two earlier, and I had a hard time finding some 10mm ammo. Believe it or not, a couple floors earlier and I had that backpack full to the brim, with no more room. I should've used my normal tactic and kept my shotties, but I stupidly dropped them for the big guns that I didn't have much ammo for. This isn't my first game, but the first time I've ever SSed, and while I was able to find some cool stuff (I never found the BFG before) I don't think ssing helps me any. My other mortem in which I died surrounded by arachs was done without any ssing and I got farther on it than I did here. I've always been at a loss for what traits to take, could be my low survival rate.
