1899 - The Hidden Hands of the Aether
Klear:
Hugo does as he is told. The back door is open and he is searching for any possible witnesses to this embarassing situation.
LuckyDee:
Ron flashes a disbelieving glance at his traitorous right hand and tosses the whisk back onto the table. Mellie, meanwhile starts closing in from behind him with the broom.
Outside, all is relatively quiet; people keep passing by on Allenby Road, buy no one is paying the inn's delivery entrance any attention.
Esther:
Josie keeps her eyes on the rat while she's trying to get closer. Holding the broom in front of her to block it from running the wrong way or to whack the vermin with it when it does.
Klear:
"Chase it outside," Hugo suggests, holding the back door open, ready to slam it shut once the pest has made its exit.
LuckyDee:
Mellie nods at Josie, signalling the advance and tells Ron: "Get the other door, and make sure no one comes in." With no other way to turn, the creature dashes for the exit and is outside in no time. As Hugo slams the door behind it, the last thing he seems to see - it's only a flash - is two black shapes in the alley, standing nose to nose as if in greeting.
Inside, Mellie tells Josie: "Have a look in the pantry, love, see what damage it's done. And do clean up if it left us any presents."
