I finally managed to win too!
I didn't find the BFG, but I had shitloads of plasma ammo while the other ammotypes were slowly depleted... (note the multiple chainguns) I found a lot of red armors really early, but later on only one so I went through with damaged armor most of the time.

I beat him with some rocket shots that must have been lucky on the damage rolls and then after having teleported from a corner, healed and getting hit with a rocket I sniped at the out-of-range CyberDaemon (I was blown far back) with 2-3 plasma bursts which finished him off.

ALMOST 100%! I know the one I missed too, it was a hell knight camping in a corner and I didn't want to waste ammo on him...

Yeah I didn't find any specials at all or I somehow completely missed them! (and I scan a level before going to the next) I'd probably do any but the arachnid lair which would probably eat up all my ammo and items.

Why did you have extra chain guns??  There is a key (U I think...?) to unload a gun.  You can just take bullets/cells out of dead humans weapons.  Congratz!

Really? Manual doesn't list any unloading button, I'll give it a shot if I decide to challenge the cyberdemon once more. Probably not before 0.9.9 (I was so hoping for a v.1 too...)

Yeah, pressing U (note the caps) while standing on a weapon makes you fully unload that weapon and put its ammo in your inventory (or if your inventory is full, it takes as much as you can hold).  If you are not standing on a weapon, then it prompts you with a list of your uneqipped weapons. Selecting one unloads it in the same manner.  Valuable inventory space saver, but I suppose when you really get down to it it doesn't help that much.  If you're lucky enough to get ahold of multiple BFGs, however, keep extras.  They hold 100 cells, which is more than you can hold in a stack (50).

Anyway, congrats!
