After hundreds of failed attempts to get Strongman Diamond (most of which died in Hell’s Arena) with much swearing and several long failed nights, I decided to attempt to get the Quartermaster Diamond Badge. After twenty more failed attempts and quittings each, I found the perfect solution from a Quartermaster Diamond mortem by the name of appuru, which involved using Angel of Max Carnage to speed up the killing. I also took Thomas’ hints in the unofficial doomRL Strategy guide and created a fast shotgun build while following appuru’s build for the later traits. There was not enough time for me to do the Chained court, so I unfortunately skipped it. However, I was lucky enough to make an early tactical shotgun build before I got to the Phobos Anomaly. The cyberdemon went down to plasma rounds without too much trouble, thanks to Dodgemaster. Deimos and Hell went smoothly enough, with Hell 7 giving me an invulnerability sphere near the stairs, making the spider mastermind battle trivial. A full bulk-modded clip of plasma brought the spider mastermind down to its knees. This is the first time I took out the mastermind, as before I either nuked her to either sacrifice myself or kill JC. Now that I’ve got a Diamond Badge, I feel ready to take on the Nightmare Difficulty. Being a Major right out of being First Lieutenant sure feels good.

P.S. I know this is one of the easier Diamond Badges, but the wiki said to post it on the forums as proof, as "for it is quite a boast to say that you have gained a Diamond badge".

P.P.S.: Any good strategies for getting the Strongman Diamond badge? Sylph's and Tormuse's builds didn't work out too well for me, and Hell's Arena is the major hurdle.

Gratz! I also find UV nearly impossible without Intuition 2, so I always rush intuition scout on UV. I'm still working on Gold/Platinum, but Diamond seems a little out of reach for me right now. I imagine my first diamond will probably be Technician Diamond, since I only need one more assembly for it.

I never could do AoRA too well, usually because I tend to end up stair diving even though there's more left in the level with 3 minutes left on the clock.

Thanks! Any tips on accomplishing Strongman Diamond or tackling Nightmare? I'm going to attempt to get a full win to get diamond #2.

Woo!  Congrats on the Diamond!  :D  Interesting build, too; I normally, fill up on speed-boosting traits for AoRA.

Regarding Strongman Diamond, you might want to skip Hell's Arena, considering that badge is pretty tough to get even without taking on special levels.  (That's what I did the first time getting Strongman Diamond in the previous version; it makes things much simpler)

Thanks tormuse. I just finished the chained court with a promising strongman candidate, and he will be arriving at either Phobos lab or Military Base. Are either worth the dive? He has Bru 3 and Ber 1 FYI.
