The Doom manual states that the limbs of the Pain Elemental are "Vestigial and Atrophied"..And plus they look pretty puny.

And in Doom they only spawned lost souls.

But what if..they ram into you ala lost soul in DoomRL? Who knows what a piece of hellspawn would do in that circumstance.

No, actually I didn't die... I was in the middle of a NTR AoMr game and taking into account what the wiki said* thought it was kind of funny.  Although I must say that for small limbs they do a fair amount of damage (either 5 or 9 HP... can't remember whether I was at 48 or 40% health before it hit me).

* I recently changed the wiki entry; previously it had said that spawning souls was the only thing pain elementals ever did.

I think they bite. They have a big mouth.

I was hit by an elemental before. I thought it was common knowledge and I deserved to have my red armor eaten because of that. Felt stupid for it back then.

They hit VERY hard, my red armor went from 90s to 30s in two bites, my almost full health dropped to 20s (on UV).
