This for my Captain rank, and one of the easiest games I've played so far (you don't need medkits with Int 3). I cleared CoS, taking 1 hp damage in total. I probably could've cleared (or given it a good attempt) the Mortuary with pistols, but I didn't think I had enough ammo, so I went in like the Cyberdemon on N! (fastload RL plus 3 levels of reloader equals almost non-stop rocketing) and finished off the remainder with pistol ammo I scrounged from dead former captains.

I had originally intended to take on the CD with one pistol, but found 3 special pistols (1 fastload, and 2 extended), so the game was really pushing me to take a level of Dualgunner, and I couldn't ignore the obvious advantages of dual wielding extended pistols.. its like having a plasma rifle with chaingun ammo.

JC took over 150 bullets to kill, and by firing a couple at CD it shows that he takes around 100 to kill, so my earlier estimations about the pistols and SoaG seem to be correct. 48 Barons behind JC survived again.

N! difficulty unlocked. My last two games should have given me enough AoMr and AoB experience to have a good chance at those challenges for Major, as they were pistol and LS games, although I see now I don't have to complete AoB for Major rank, just AoMr and AoP. I think they are both harder than any challenge I've attempted so far (AoP sounds harder than AoI, but if I just replace some of my unused rockets (I had over 100 in total this game and had to keep dropping some) from this game for large medkits, I should be ok).

It should be possible to kill the CD almost 100% of the time with pistols in AoMr with no medkits/phase devices, as long as you have the right traits, supercharged/Badass health and full AA. This is because, even if he spawns in front of you, you can defeat the CD, without even dodging. You should deal 200 hp of damage with pistols before he can deal you 100 hp of damage with rockets. I think thats hilarious actually, that you can go toe to toe with the CD with pistols and win without using a medkit or phase device, but then only with (boosted) health, and AA (otherwise you will die first).

The only part I'm unsure of, is that in AoMr your best pistol combo is probably Advanced and Fastload, whereas I was able to dual wield Extended pistols. Perhaps AoMr should give you an Extended pistol instead of Advanced :P (so no WK mods in beta lol).

Gratz! Looks like a great game!
You're not a savescummer, right...? That'd certainly be a buzzkill :P

I'm not quite fond of Badass (AoMs games excluded), and there are certainly better ways of gunning Cybie down with pistols (or with one pistol and more patience). Hellrunner(2-3) makes him miss at least nearly 100% of the time, greatly reducing the need for AA and more than 100 HPs. There's a very good chance you won't need medkits or phasing, either. More generally, I prefer a good all-around defensive trait (TaN, mostly) to such a circumstantual one, requiring advanced forms of healing to work and being useless while you're under 100% health.

I save once every level or so, it just helps prevent a crash bug I was getting (I haven't had a crash since). Savescum would be too easy, though I do xp-scum (used to be just levers, and now its AVs too) as much as is survivable and ammo allows. It might be good practice for N! :p

Yeah, I agree on all points. I've never taken Badass myself, I only mentioned it because it helps to kill CD without needing to dodge. It would be infinitely better to dodge CD with HR, but I've not bothered to work out how much energy he uses to fire and reload for optimum dodging yet. Maybe I should in case hes more difficult on N!, but then again, he might be faster on N! so it would be almost pointless working out his speed on UV.

I've never taken TaN on a regular basis, statistically it doesn't appeal to me, I prefer Ironman and Hellrunner for defensive traits. I might have one game where I take TaN 3, for experimentation, but I will probably skip it even on N!, in exchange for offensive or alternative traits. Of course if every level is full of Arachs and Commandos I might change my mind :P

I'm going to attempt N! now. I think its so funny, that message when you select N! brings back memories! I'm hoping it doesn't crash this time as I can't save, if it does I'll try without music.

Yes, this is really a honorable achievement! Congratulations!

I haven't realized any difference in power of monsters between ITYTD and Nightmare!(tm). Imho difficulty only affects amount of them and how soon stronger monsters appear.
