You know I've been running two private linux server all the time, right? :p

If you need a bot or something just give me a call. I'd also be willing to host telnet/ssh gameplay but I'd have to do some configuration for that first (*cough*jail*cough*).

Well, you just went through a lot of text to tell us what we already know: Computer (PC & Console) RPGs are limited by the options the creators implemented. If you don't like it: don't play it.*

The solution for it is rather straight forward as well: Pen & Paper


*I pretty much exclusively play the bad guy and always as rotten to the core as the gameplay permits.

DoomRL already has (item)vaults. They are usually (always?) filled with lost souls.

It's fine the way it is.  People believing they're immortal don't care what powerups are in a level, and guys foaming at the mouth looking for the next chainsaw kill don't either.

Always remember that the Doomguy is a cautious berserker!

I'm for ability to look outside your LoS if you "know" what is there. Like in IVAN: if it's insede your LoS, then line appears: "You see there is * lying here", and if it's ourside, appears line: "You remember that * was lying there".

Whatever the name someone gave to it, I can give it new one, but it doesn't matter.
If, just like you said, it is the only cheating, then why making one mode where it is prevented, is, in your opinion, silly ?

1. The term savescumming has been around as long as RLs have been around which is over two decades if memory serves.
2. Games are supposed to be played without cheating in the first place so adding a challenge that consists of playing the game without cheating is utterly stupid.

Making Ao100 harder sounds reasonable but not by making AoD/Cybie/JC spawn.

How about a special kind of boss monster for Ao100 that guards the down stairs on certain levels (e.g. 'Keeper of XX' where XX is the level) and that scales with depth and/or player level.

Personally, considering that roguelikes don't really reward experimentation (Really, who's going to get to the very end of Nethack and go 'Wow, I might win for the first time here. But first I'll just see what happens if I offer the amulet to the wrong God...') what with perma-death and all, I support the posting of spoilers. Those who want to be spoiled can read them. Those who don't can choose not to. It'll save a frustrating situation like 'Oh, I wonder what 'R'eloading this plasma rifle do- ARGH I'M DEAD' from occurring.
