Rah strolls on! The common perception of halflings being weak is simply incorrect - you see, their smaller stature actually has a concentrating effect; which also suggests that the larger members are all actually very weak and...

Rah is in his element, the wilds!

He is a flurry of activity! One moment he's on all fours sniffing the ground, at others he is jumping to and from trees investigating the wider area.

"Sooooo..."
Rah nervously looks around. What to ask... oh!
"How about dem bear pits. You been to bear pits? The bears have got these new muzzles with underslung cheek spikes, and..."
Rah continues to ramble to the hobgoblin about various manly things.

Rah knew nothing of this diplomacy stuff! But he could tell his friends needed help. Rah looks to the sky and ponders, What Would Peelor Do? Hmm...

I have to do something that Peelor likes. Peelor is a dog. Dogs like... tummy scratches?

He looks at the hobgoblin. He did not look like he'd enjoy a tummy scratch.

He sees all the refuse around the hobgoblin. The rotten food didn't look nice. Food! What food do dogs like... meat!

Rah, convinced of this unbreakable chain of logic, does what is Right.
"Yous"
Rah points a leg of roasted meat at the hobgoblin
"Have meats. Meats taste good. Eat lots. Then talk, ok?"
He reluctantly hands the meat to the hobgoblin.

Giving away meat... Peelor is very demanding! Rah gains more respect for Nori - he must have it tough.

"Yes! We punch evil until it goes boom ok! You ca-" Rah's heroism is suddenly cut short as his vision is suddenly surmounted by...
Paperwork. Documents. Books. Files. Scrolls.
Woooords.
"I-iiee aah-"
Rah's forehead begins to sweat profusely. Nobody must know that he cannot read!
"Uh-uhm you all too slow! Rah show you how to do it!"
Rah dives into a pile of paperwork and starts randomly shuffling them back and forth muttering "hmm ah yes indeed" while furrowing his brows.

Rah is sort of daydreaming when Graven's mention of the word "dog" snaps him out of it. Something important happening? Rah must contribute!
"Yah! Rah come because of... I forget now. But now I have seen light! I serve dog now."
Rah smiles. Then scratches himself.

Didn't find any major bugs during this play, the game is really quite stable now.

Gave myself the challenges of "don't go back up any stairs, ever" combined with "clear floors entirely of enemies"; so no town trips or clearing deeper floors prior to Butcher. This didn't turn out to be difficult - there's plentiful amounts of health potions; Butcher and overlords can be cheesed using bows from behind barrels; and repair skill was useful, although I didn't realise I had it until near the end.

Used a buckler[5] for most of the game until I got tired of un/re-equipping it each time I wanted to use a bow or the healing staff.

Never found any rings this version, I presume they are disabled?

Anyway much fun was had; I actually found it more fun than non-ironman actually, since I don't care for the tedium of repeatedly backtracking into town and haggling piles of junk. Would be interesting if a future version had an ironman challenge mode built in, similar to the challenge modes in DoomRL.

Rah eyes the man in front of him. He could tell this man was important, and like any object of interest in the wild, he focuses all his senses on it. Emotions like fear, aggression, could be detected by body motions, perspiration, smell, and such.

Rah concentrates.

Rah sits there jaw agape as Norian tells him all sorts of things about Peelor. Astral? Dog? Deevine?

Much time that night is spent contemplating the notion of extra planar deities and such. Life was getting ever more confusing for the wild halfling!

In the middle of the night, he decides to pledge his support, an offering, by using a sharp rock to make a small carving in the wooden floorboards.

Pleased with himself, he floats back to dreams.
