I don't see what could be really exciting about going through 100 levels with super equipement, full skills vs massive spam of monsters. Either you have to build bigger monsters, but that prly won't happen, or some way to keep equipement pressure (random item destructions when taking big shots, rust monsters or something) or make monsters grow at the same rate you do.

Maybe, increase all monster's health sightly when going deeper, 10% every 10 levels past the 30th or so - but anyway, there will be a routine coz the game is designed to be 4 times shorter.

Are you positive?  I'm pretty sure I've observed more knockback when shooting pistols once I've gotten 3x SoG, 3x SoB.

I think i do observed that either. We're not playing the beta, tho.

EE is def. worthy with pistols and 2 EE + CE is def. worthy with chaingun.

If I haven't made any mistake with formula, at 6 distance, 1 EE for chaingun/no EE for pistol is 66% chance to hit, while 2 EE for chaingun/1 for pistol is 84%. That mean you land 25% more bullets, and it's huge.

My basic pistol build look like SoaG -> SoaG -> DG -> SoaG -> EE -> SoB and then randomly SoB or Ironman. I prefer SoB over Finesse bc of armored units ; if you take a BoH it takes 10 hits on average without SoB to kill him and 7-8 with SoB 2 - which means that you'll not need to reload. You also gain knockback, it's fun :3

You see the whole room I think, if not there was not much more room on the right. Spawned on it, and no barrel.

Fired about 20 bullets on the corridor end just hoping for some god saving wall destructing propriety of the unique, realising that with no barrel, no rocket, no enviro suit, crappy boots and obviously no medpack/phase device this was the end ; I bravely ran in lava like Leroy would do and died in atrocious pain.

Still, I won AoI later today =) pistol run + bfg action on cybie. Nice run with no unique and eeaaasy end with 40% health.

I've been trying for N! AoB without success in the current non-beta test version .9.8.10 - the berserker trait almost never activates for me...

The berseker trait almost never unlocks for me. :>

That sound powerful with such a low firing time and no reload and low health consumption. Altho I like it. Need to be tweaked just a little probably.

1s base fire time is fine if damage is pumped up, or let it be but decrease damage by 2 pts or so (so it'd still 1 shot most weak monsters but be far less effective against bigger ones).

Edit : Well, thinking back, I like it as it is.

600 ammos ? You must be playing N! or UV i guess.

I swear I ended a run with 300 ammos as a maximum on NTR.

I also single reload often to finish the work. As mods I tend to use reload mods bc the bonus is great. Double reload with double modded gun is only 1,2s...

With SoB i'd rather use a chaingun. Your necro gun is 16 dmg per shot with SoB 3 (20 with necroarmor) and chaingun is 32 for 5 missiles. Difference is less important with armor tho bc it applies 5 times on chaingun, but still, for a weapon that drain life at such fast rate (~10% per shot), it's too weak. For 10% health, almost insta-death of a target is the price to make it useful imho.

I'd like to +1 these ideas i found in this thread : Boomrang, Translocator, the force-a-nature, and most long-range-only weapons suggestions.

About the necrogun it really depends of what you want it to be. It could be a BFG-like, backup situational wep or a good main wep you use in replacement to a chaingun for example. My idea was to make a good main wep, so low health drain and decent-but-not-BFG-like damage.

It's a bit themed with necro armor that also give speed boost and drain a low continuous amount of health to repair, altho my version may be a bit underpowered. Bigger speed boost, better damge, shorter fire time, 1hp instead of 2hp drain, are options to improve it ; also bigger clip or instant reload (no need to move a tile) but it's less fun imho :P

@ Melon : Your version takes way too much health compared that what it deals. To take down a major monster (vile, BoH, mancubus...) that got 60hp you'd need 30+ hp (more because they are armored) i.e. something like 70% of your health for only double damage of a pistol.

That'd make it pretty berserkish. You'd run, loose pvs and deal damage like a madman. :>

I'm also thinking about a fun armor. A repulsive thingy that automatically knockback any monster that dare attack you hand to hand. Could be a lifesaver without being overpowered I think.
