Don't forget to factor armor into the equation. Bonus damage from power mods can be much more noticeable against highly armored targets:
2d4+2 (from SoaG 2) averages out at 7 points of damage, which is reduced to as little as 3, if memory serves, by the demons' armor.
Now, each power mod raises average pistol damage by 1. This is very nice when raising damage from 7 to 8, but is outstanding when raising it from 3 to 4.
Another thing to factor in is limited ammo - power mods are much more ammo friendly than bulk mods.
My $0.02 before I pass out.

I fear this is an invitation for metagaming hell, at least in the ideas current form/s.
What's certain to me is that Intuition should have nothing to do with this - that would make an already powerful trait unnecessarily more powerful.
This has been discussed at least a few times in the past, and IIRC ideas were raised for rooms which spawn into the level via lever, rooms under the floor, and many others. Anyone with the time might want to run a search and try digging up the threads for insight into their conclusions.

I prefer the regular shotty when radaring. Its range is longer than the double's and its cone wider than the combat's.
But, then again, I may be sorely deluded and/or forgetting something. Don't play as much as I used to.
That said, assuming I'm not missing something here, this is a good enough reason for me to hang on to a standard shotgun for quite a long while.
As for the combat shotty-Shottyman thing, why not just make the pump cost absolutely nothing? That's stepping on the assault's toes a bit, but meh - give the assault shotty the ability to slam-fire at absolutely no penalty, when used in conjunction with Shottyman. This won't step on the jackhammer's toes since it's more versatile via magazine size and range.
