Quote from: Myself, not four hours ago
It's possible to play AoB to some degree (not to mention beat N! AoB SOMEHOW) but I'm staying away from it until there's a fix.Apparently I don't listen to what I say, because after that AoSg YAAM run I felt like trying something different. Hence N! AoB.
This run is probably the most ridiculous thing ever, not because I did it with the zerk bug, but because everything between Chained Court and killing the Cyberdemon was done while zerked. There was not a SINGLE TURN between those two events where I was not under the effects of Berserk. In other words, the bug didn't even matter, I was stuck in perma-zerk anyway. Finding occasional packs were useful, but it was definitely farming Pain Elementals that allowed me to stay in the game like that.
There was a unique on floor six(ish) but I didn't have the patience to keep looking. It happened to be an Arach cave (which there were at least five of in this run, holy smokes) and you can't just sit around on those things. Necroarmor was nice sometimes (+25% movespeed is no joke), but mostly useless, and I kept taking it off to avoid what was basically turning into double damage.
I actually did try the Mortuary, but between the speed of the Viles and the rather extreme number of Commandos and Captains, I couldn't keep my health up enough to keep going. Left about half-way in, but it was pretty awesome nonetheless.
The point in Finesse was me trying to remember if it affects melee (which it does not).
One Plat away from Marshal now. Today was a good day.

Managed to get a super shotgun on floor 3, right after finishing HA. The rest was a cake-walk, no joke. When you can two-shot anything within three tiles and snipe with the power of a double+, combined with MAD, the floor just turn into meat-grinders for your absolute weapon. Just to prove the point, I managed to beat Mortuary with one SuperCharge only (no med-packs) using that weapon alone. I powered through Hellgate and Cybie with little trouble.
Super shotgun is, far and wide, the best shotty-build shotgun. Even on MFa, you can build P(2/3)/T(2/3) and the enemies are about the same, not to mention you can get a lot closer to them. There's a good chance it needs a worse drop-off rate, or less spread. This run was way too easy, even with the three Arach caves I had to deal with.

cautious The Mortuary
Game started pretty nice, nothing special or anything, but I managed to keep up with a level-up per floor until five or so. Committed only to the first wave of HA (that's usually the plan), wiped Chained Court fully.
I picked up Fireangel in an Arach Cave that forced me to go the distance: thankfully there were only two to kill immediately and a nice cover spot for the rest. The rest of the pre-Hell game played out well, with some easy stairs in some cases (like an arena that placed The Wall very close to the center). Halls of Carnage picked me up a BFG, as did City and Skulls, but I only ever needed two shots.
Had exactly one phase for Hellgate, got me just past the first wave: MFa makes running past the Bruisers a joke.
The rest of the game was nerve-wracking, especially because I was committed to Explorer's Badge at that point. HRx2 makes completing UC a no-brainer either way, but I had to travel the whole map and smack down Vile/Mancubi AND Vile/former packs (there was also a Vile/Rev but it was surrounded by lava). City of Skulls went well with the shotty build; just passed through Spider/Vault/Mort/Lava. Given I was so close to actually completing a standard N! game for once, there was no way I was trying Mort (already have that badge anyway), but the screenshot explains a second reason for not trying it.
Level 23 plants me a Trigun in sight, pretty sweet. Two Vile/Baron packs (that I deftly dodge) later I'm in and out of the Pits. Next level (and a Vile/Mancubus pack later, kinda pissed at nearly dying there) I found some invincibility. Now, I'm a sucker for karma, so I just gave my thanks and cleaned up the rest of the game. If there's one unique I could ever want, in any game at all, it's Trigun.
Honestly? This is about as smooth of a run as anyone could ask for. MFa is easily the best way to make your way through N!. I had about three Arach caves (pretty standard) and the stairs were random enough that I can't complain either way: same goes for the rest, with some really tough stairs and some really easy ones. Full victory and Explorer's Badge (not to mention spawning all specials but the Armory) gave me complete satisfaction on this one. The silver cluster is probably from City of Skulls. Now I need to try some other builds, or just other challenges (I'm looking at you, AoSg).
Hit General rank, too, yeehaw!

Discussion / Monster Tiers & Irks
« on: October 30, 2010, 18:36 »
DoomRL hosts a near-full cast of monsters from the original series. However, many enemies are different from those games, partly because there's no cure for genre-changing, partly due to creative liberties. This is how I rank the current DoomRL monsters, for the difficulty of HNTR (special enemies and bosses excluded):
Obviously my list changes for HMP, UV, and N!. This is what the enemies are capable of without any bonuses. Please comment on anything that should be changed (and note that it's based on HNTR. If you feel like adapting the list to other difficulties, be my guest).
More importantly, I was hoping for this discussion to open up on the topic of problems that monsters have...characteristics that make them harder than they should. Maybe Revs shouldn't have homing attacks (or at least 100% of the time), Arch-viles could have a large firing time for their attack (or charge time, as in the game). Naturally players are exploiting the game, but the enemies themselves are exploiting what has been given to them by the creator. I figure we should compile a list of concerns as to what could (or should) be changed with regards to particular monsters.

Before him 700 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:
578 of those were killed.
3 of those were killed by something unknown.
70 didn't read the thermonuclear bomb manual.
And 17 couldn't handle the stress and committed a stupid suicide.
Some rumours though, say that the Cyberdemon was killed already!
Is he immortal? 32 souls claim to have killed him...
6 sacrificed itself for the good of mankind.
23 killed the bastard and survived.
3 showed that it can outsmart hell itself.

This ended up being a lot harder than I originally expected. It turns out not having access to berserking or invulnerability or computer maps or even the BackPack makes things far more difficult (not to mention a severe deficiency of healing). The rundown:
- Games starts strong, combat shotgun on floor 2, cleaned house in HA (though sorely hurting by the end).
- Shell conservation becomes a problem as I go deeper and deeper. I realize that combat shotgun (and soon a double on top) won't be enough for fighting in vision, so I pick up a plasma rifle and stock up on some cells lying around.
- The game was fortunate enough to provide with me an agility mod just before The Wall, allowing me to buff the plasma rifle just enough for a chance at some killing. Took very little damage overall, and the missile launcher was well worth it, but a very nerve-wracking case.
- Tons of shells just when I need them (and a couple of Viles to give me triple what I needed), things are looking good as I head into Halls of Carnage. I use the missile launcher to pry open the right side and kill everything before using an envirosuit to run over, grab the BFG and run back without taking lava damage.
- I am blessed with a laser rifle just before Hellgate. This causes me to level Son of a Bitch over the course of the rest of the game, and was extremely important in killing the Cyberdemon. Hellgate itself wasn't TOO bad, the Viles dealt a lot of damage before finally dying (unlucky rocket damage, I suppose).
- Three Arach caves in Hell, two I have to complete fully.
- I risked Vaults, going in with only one large medpack and about 60% health, because I desperately needed the ammo. SOMEHOW I killed the Viles without dying (two died from laser/missile, the other two fell to my shotty dance of death). Worked out a win in the end, though the level gave me a Jackal just to mock me.
- The rest took a lot of careful navigation, cries of frustration for every extra Vile I wasn't expecting, and some tedious movement to avoid dying.
- Cyberdemon was downed without any medpacks: 4 missiles and about three laser clips.
Glad to have this off the list. I don't think I'll be attempting N! AoPu anytime soon.

Requests For Features / A Bunch of Little Stuff
« on: October 23, 2010, 00:25 »
1. The equipment screen is a little backwards. Whenever you try to select a slot that's already filled, it always seeks to unequip that equipment. I suggest that, if there are alternatives to put in the slot, there should be a menu (like using something) that gives you the option to equip any of those alternatives or to drop the equipped piece. Since you can already do the same thing from the inventory screen, it makes a lot of sense for it to go both ways.
2. Some of the coloring makes it really hard to notice what you're missing, particularly when you see so many different objects using that dark red color. Maybe switch up some of it? Barons and large med-packs could be pink, for example, and lava's red color should be bright red instead. All the bloodied tiles and bloodstone really obscure things.
3. It'd be nice if your stats screen factored in everything. Berserk modifications, for instance, have no obvious effect on the stats screen, but it's obvious that there's a speed bonus. (If nothing else, a little indicator with something like "Berserk State: +##% speed" would be awesome.) Also, current/total monster kill would make those min kill badges a lot easier to determine if you're anywhere near having a shot at completion.
4. Currently there's no choosing mechanic for multiple copies of quickkeyed weapons. If I want to select my power-modded pistol instead of my tech-modded pistol, the game only picks the top one from the inventory screen. Even more infuriating is trying to use another weapon with them. Suppose I have a combat shotgun in the weapon slot and a pistol in the prepped, and I quickkey for my other pistol: the game just swaps my weapons and forgets about the other pistol. (This is remedied simply by not using the quickkey functions, I understand, but to have them there at all should imply they're functional whenever you need them to be.)
5. Whenever a homing phase device isn't going to work correctly, I suggest that there should be some kind of message to indicate thus (basically just Hellgate and Phobos Arena/HF, could apply to other stuff as necessary). "Cannot detect available exit. Phase anyway?" Also, do multiple exits (ala special/normal and Mortuary) provide a random exit, or is there an arbitrary given?
6. The 'wait' function always spends one second (10 turns), regardless of anything going on. I suggest that it contain an exception for approaching enemies: if the enemy comes into view during any turn of 'waiting', then it should end prematurely. Sometimes I wait and an Arachnatron still manages to approach AND fire a volley...that always seemed off to me.

I felt like going for a combat shotgun and explosives build. The plan was the following: Fin -> Jug -> Fin -> Rel -> WK -> WK, then as necessary. I left it open for potential goodies, but otherwise the rest would play into defensive traits. I wasn't planning on a 100% run, as this is meant for a way to work toward a more reliable N! victory. So far Fireangel is the only "easy" build on N! due to a ridiculous avoidance of damage, so I'm trying to find something else that might work.Unfortunately, the RNG had other plans. Grammaton was the first unique, implying I shouldn't really bother with more WK when the primary can't be modded. Trigun was the second unique, not two floors later mind you, so by now I'm invested into SoG with a possible DG later. Onyx armor pops up a few levels later, then ANOTHER onyx just for kicks. By now I'm reeeeeeeeally starting to think the RNG just loves to toy with me (given that I have yet to achieve Brick Silver in spite of tens of runs aiming for it...) but I roll with it.
Things go smoothly, I wipe out all the special levels save UC (no chainsaw nor movespeed for it). Third unique, Malek's armor, so hey, I don't even need two onyx armors anymore. Invulnerability lets me nuke Vaults after two phases and no luck. Mortuary is pretty easy, nearly died once (down to 3% anywho) but otherwise without a hitch.
Finally, floor 23 rolls around. There's an Invulnerability right near the Lava Pits and a homing device in my inventory. A pretty sweet throwdown follows:
- Take globe, run for the stairs
- Nuke Lava Pits, leave
- Nuke next floor, homing, leave
- Nuke NEXT level and Cybie
So I hit the Fortress. Unfortunately the big bad hits me with a rather high damage and I just barely die from it. Whatever, I've had enough full wins not to care too much by now. Weird run though, especially since I was multitasking the rest of my Linear Algebra study. Anything above HNTR and I probably would have gotten killed...I was barely paying attention.
EDIT: I got rid of the mortem parts that spoil the full win, just in case.

Wanted to see how well MGK fares in UV. To be honest, it's nowhere near as hard to use as I thought it might be (though P2 does help). This would've been a YAAM if not for The Wall. Some notes:
- Once again, the game decides to mock me and my lack of Brick Silver. I had three phases ready for The Wall, none of them worked. In addition, an HK ninja'd me out of a homing phase on the previous level.
- Bulk modding pistols have a use, even with MGK. Those extra two (four) bullets can really come in handy when you're unlucky enough to miss a couple times more than usual. Once both were B1'd I only had to reload for corner-shooting.
- I had a couple phases ready for Hellgate, but the Invulnerability and homing on the previous floor were far too tempting. It turned out to make it quite easy: unleash, kill the Viles, then finish up as the invulnerability wears off.
- City of Skulls and a Pain Elemental cave directly after (didn't even know they could show up as early as 18...) seriously hurt my bullet supplies. Fortunately, I also got my WK, allowing me to P2B1 both pistols and allowing for conservation quite nicely. Captains came at just the right times for the rest of the game...not enough to also attempt Mortuary or Lava Pits, but I can't be TOO greedy.
- I've learned that MGK can fight Cybie really well, as long as you reload each pistol individually in between attacks.
A fun run overall, gonna need to rewrite my Marksman sections to accommodate for this revelation. Whether or not this holds water in N!, however, I can't say. N! AoMr is already ridiculous, as I have yet to secure a victory there in spite of many attempts.

Just going through AoMr on HNTR until I get Brick Silver (I'll probably move up after a few if I STILL don't have it). This game happened to have some pretty awesome finds, so I felt like posting it. My ending DPS was 2d7+6/0.20 = (13.5)*5 = 67.5...that's hard to achieve with a plasma rifle.
Aside from what you can see, I also found two plasma shotguns and a laser rifle. It's as if the game was visibly mocking me: "Yeah, I totally gave you a blaster but didn't spawn The Wall, haha. By the way, here are some awesome weapons you can't use." (FYI, blaster with enough damage will actually destroy walls.) I've had similar luck with 4/5 phases and no The Wall spawn. It practically spawns in every game, except when I actually want to go to it.
Other than that, I absent-mindedly skipped Chained Court and The Mortuary. I'm almost positive that I would have cleared Mortuary, too, with the weapons I had by the end.
If you're wondering why I don't have DG, I've decided to practice playing with a single pistol in preparation for the ghastly Marksman Diamond. First step's one pistol, eventually doing it on UV, then no SoG, eventually doing that on UV. I imagine it'll only be possible with an exotic/unique on N!, but I'm hoping that there are some successes without any on the easier difficulties.

Requests For Features / Monster reaction to noise
« on: September 19, 2010, 20:47 »
Been throwing around this idea in the "common abuses" thread, but I feel like it could use its own thread so I/we can flesh it out more.
The basics:
- Everything that currently causes noise in the game (firing a gun, explosions, enemy deaths, etc) will produce an actual noise, concentrated at the source of said noise, that monsters can take notice of
--- Noise will dissipate from the source radially, with walls/doors acting as dampeners
- Monsters that notice the noise will change their actions to move toward the source for a period of time and will only return to normal if:
--- They appear at the source without any change in priorities (ie, bored)
--- Time runs out (ie, forget)
--- They cannot reach the source from their current position (ie, annoyed)
- Monsters only react to the most recent noise (that is, they will change their movement if they hear something else)
- Movement toward the source is only specified by a direction and magnitude, so the exact location is unknown (meaning they won't take a point-to-point route, only try to "go left", etc)
That said, there are a lot of consequences for these basic rules. The first, and most important, is that when you start to attack things, all of a sudden a lot of enemies will try to find you out. Pre-fight tactics would then change significantly, as you would try to find a place where enemies couldn't swarm on you. At the same time, you could also throw enemies off by creating a noise in one room and running into another, then picking them off from a safe location as they approach. There are also some gray-areas (Should your yelling while crossing acid/lava create noise? Should the first barrel explosion take precedent over any chained explosions?) that ought to be figured out.
As I mentioned in the previous thread, this would also have uses for melee users. Throwing a knife against a wall would cause a noise at the wall and lure enemies there, presumably while you prepare at a melee distance. Chainsaws create tons of noise and, were this implemented, could have a "revving" alternate fire for the sole purpose of creating noise. I'd like to think noise reactions can be a decent replacement for gift-dropping, and so is part of the reason I suggest it.
With the addition of noise, we can also begin to create items and equipment that reduce or even eliminate noise. The most obvious is a "silence" mod that reduces the amount of noise coming from a weapon, and absorb noise in your direction (like a wall) if used on armor/boots. In the consumable department, "phonon canceler" can remove all noise from the level for a period of time (or in a radius, though that may get complicated). Some weapons will be less noisy than others (laser rifle and blaster would be quieter than bullets or raw plasma, shotguns are awfully loud) and some enemies may be more susceptible to noise than others (or just plain deaf).
Sure, maybe it's complicated, but in a game whose original used noise in a very important way, I can't imagine keeping reactions to noise out of DoomRL forever. I CAN imagine it being a very time-consuming project, however, so simply knowing it has the potential to be "in the works" would be news enough for me.

Dang, it's been a while since I got a win. I never expected it to be trying N! A100 though...
Beginning was just kill as I could, get to Ammochain as soon as possible (floor 9, not bad), and focus on conservative play. After maxing Iro/HR, I focused on simply reaching the exit of each floor.
Important items?
-I managed both gothic and planeshift armors, eventually (I repeat, EVENTUALLY) getting the ABP on both. Planeshift ABP, plasteel AT, and HRx2 combined for 0.44 movespeed which, when Berserked, is practically like a time-stopper. I actually saw a Baron aim for my previous location after firing TWO volleys of plasma at him. There were plenty of times when their durability was running low, though, and I had to play naked for a bit.
- The absolutely necessary plasma rifle. I didn't get an A1 until floor 39 (which I remember because that level was the closest I came to dying, go irony!), and the T2/P2 came over time. Plenty of damage and, once the P2 was added, the occasional knockback was useful.
- Missile launcher came, amazingly, in the teens. After a while I realized that the shotgun was useless and I stocked up solely on rockets, anywhere between 4-8 stacks (sometimes my health supplies were low). BFG9000 came later, but I almost never used it because...
- BFG10, in all its ridiculously powerful glory. I could probably write a book on that thing for the number of times I used it. As if to congratulate me on my hard-earned victory of floor 39, the game plopped me a unique on the next level and, sure enough, it was exactly the right weapon for the build.
My strategy was able to be boiled down to the following:
- Arenas, open Hellish Caves, and big spaces were BFG10K.
- Whenever I needed some precise splash damage or a wall opened up, missile launcher.
- Everything else, plasma rifle.
In terms of Invulnerability Globes and Berserk Packs, I wouldn't say I was any more lucky than normal. One case of five Berserk Packs (!!!) and another of three Invulnerability Globes are the coolest mentions. Two nukes, two floors. By the end, I was actually hoping for Hellish Caves and Arenas...everything else is too mind-wracking and BFG10K cleans up the aforementioned too well NOT to want them.
After a while, the main targets of my wrath were Arch-viles and Mancubi, with secondary targets on Barons and Revs. Dodging be damned, as Mancubi seem to target, precisely, both sidestep locations you could take...it sure happened enough times for me to think so. And as for the Arch-viles, having to deal with 4+ at once can be frustrating: thankfully, BFG10K takes care of corpses rather well.
FYI, let me know if you want to know what Dervis' Medallion takes. I can keep it a secret if it seems like it should be one of those things.

Level 2 spotted me a Trigun, which led to some very dominating floor-runs. HA was no sweat, didn't really have problems until Hellgate. There's a good chance I was in the 80-90% range for a long time, too: a couple levels made me leave 'em without attacking at all, though (I'm looking at you, Maze of Rooms with stairs in the middle). Build was pretty obvious for Trigun, though I REALLY wish I hadn't blocked MGK at the beginning of the game: such a weapon is absolutely perfect for the auto-reloading capability of Kata.
I had a fortunate Invulnerability Globe very close to the stairs by UC. This let me kill the Lost Souls without taking any damage. Also, AoD does NOT receive Nightmare! speed bonus, so I was able to bathe him with HRx2 and some a-modded steel boots. (Bug?)
Death came to a rogue Manubus at the beginning of this level. It's a YASD 'cause I pretty much lured him into a place where I couldn't escape his attack, so there you go. Large med-pack would have been best option (though not even a complete safety net, still...), phases are always bad crap-shoots in N! Phobos Hell.
Y'know, I'm glad I got the Longinus Platinum/Diamond, but this could have easily been a YAVP if I hadn't still been considering Elite after all that. From now on I'm just going to avoid it unless I get a very, VERY good start and/or unique (BFG 10K would do it). With Trigun and that homing I was hoping that I might even get Veteran Diamond. Ah well.

Is he immortal? 22 souls claim to have killed him...
2 sacrificed itself for the good of mankind.
18 killed the bastard and survived.
2 showed that it can outsmart hell itself.

This was shaping to be a good run. Played HRx2 then towards MAc (ideally I want to get four badges: UAC, Demonic, Longinus, and Elite (Diamond)) and it worked pretty darn well. Managed to squeeze an agi mod out of Chained Court without rockets, got my A1 plasma on the very next level. Biggest mistake, for sure, was trying The Wall...there's just not way to do it unless you have MAc (and even then it's hard as hell).
Died here trying to beat down a Mancubus with my plasma in the hopes that his shots wouldn't hit me but, alas, he nailed me in the end. Should I have made it to MAc, though, I'm sure things would have gone on nicely: that plus HRx2, then maxing Iro, yeah...
I may want to break up the badges, though. I don't think Explorer and 90% will hurt each other too much (for instance, I beat just one level of HA and called it quits so they wouldn't respawn). Longinus, on the other hand, really forces HRx2...maybe I can afford to get it after MAc is complete?

Bug Reports / [0.9.9.1] doomrl.ini Issue
« on: August 25, 2010, 18:05 »
The doomrl.ini file has a place to auto-select difficulty level, but "5" isn't binded to Nightmare!. In fact, as far as I can tell, N! isn't binded at all. 1-ITYTD/2-HNTR/3-HMP/4-UV all seem to work, but any other number besides 0 and 255 give ITYTD.
Not a huge problem, just thought I'd address it.

Discussion / MAc/General Balancing (pt 2)
« on: August 24, 2010, 10:36 »
Picking up this thread where it left off, particularly the last two replies. Since I was away when those went up, I never got the chance to reply myself.
The only way I would buy that some master traits should be better than others is to change the minimum number of traits required for those traits. Similarly, there could also be mini-master traits that only take level 5/6 before you can use them. If MAc is meant to be the best master trait, it should probably also require Juggler or a third SoB, so that it takes longer to reap the benefits.
I gotta say, I really like this idea. As much as people don't bother with Intx2 much, it's an extremely useful trait that is typically "blocked" because you need to expend two or three points that are often unwanted. (It's in the same vein that some people hate needing SM for shotgun master traits, 'cause it and Rel are unnecessary with a combat shotty or shotty/Jug combo.) I would be tempted to say that Cateye as an adv trait should only require EEx1 (and maybe make Intuition (MIn) require THx1, Catx2 instead): otherwise we'll end up in the same position Intuition is in now. I can tell you right now that an adv Cateye would make pistol runs much more doable in comparison to other weapon runs.
Erm...chaingun already has +2 to-hit. In other words, what you're suggesting is just a nerf on the plasma rifle (and, subsequently, a nerf on commandos as well, though that can be rectified through other means) that isn't particularly necessary. The plasma rifle has enough problems, namely: it eats ammo like crazy, it's difficult to maintain a constant supply of said ammo if you rely on it, and +2 to-hit is already pretty lousy. +0 is gonna make it nigh-unusable unless you have at least TWO levels of EE. In short, nerfing a weapon to accommodate MAc isn't the way to go about doing this.
This sounds like a nice way to balance it out: Ammochain provides infinite ammo for chainguns (and any potential exotics and uniques that fit in the category), and allows one extra mod on them per level of WK (meaning you'd get 4 at MAc because of WKx1, while WKx2 would put it up to 7). The plasma rifle is powerful not because it has more shots or slightly more damage, it is powerful because of the piercing effect plasma has on tough enemies. Seven possible mods means that P3T3A1 is possible, and would pretty much allow for what MAc does already, the only difference being you need to find that many mods. I like it: it doesn't mean you'll never use the plasma rifle, either. Sometimes you need that piercing damage (read: Revenants), and an overloaded spray against Cybie couldn't hurt.

First of all, I think that the two rapidfire traits (MAc and MCa) SHOULD be more powerful than the other master traits. For starters, they don't include any defensive traits and they block TaN. Also, I think it makes sense that rapidfire weapons should be stronger than shotguns or pistols. They are in real life, aren't they? And I think it works out to a nice balance--rapidfire weapons are straightforward and (relatively) easy to win with. Shotguns are great in the early game, then gradually become less and less powerful versus the enemies you face... but they have a strategic value that can make up for this if you get the right traits and play to the weapons' strengths. Pistols are the hardest ranged weapons, but you can do very cool stuff with them if you pour the right traits into them.

First of all, I think most people agree that Int is way better than MCa, especially now that enemy AI has improved. They should probably switch the two--making Int a master trait that includes both levels 1 and 2 of Int, and Cateye a 2-level advanced trait that gives you one more square of visibility per level. Most of the time MCa isn't worth the trouble, especially since it blocks off other traits.

Lower the plasma rifle's accuracy to +0, and raise the chaingun to +2. This would make an unmodded chaingun just good enough that if you had SoB/Triggerhappy and no EE, it would at least outclass the combat shotgun as a general purpose weapon. And the plasma rifle would really suffer without double agility mods (you might even want triple). Combined with the lack of guaranteed agility mods, this means you could actually have a tough time later on.

Personaly if you ask me though, Ammochain would be fine even if you'd limit it just to chaingun/minigun but just buffing the whizkid even more. Chaingun and minigun that would be modded to hell and back would still make the ammochain amazingly efficient. The main problem with ammochain seems to be the power of the plasmagun that is given the unlimited ammo afterall..
